“Wonderful and exceptional stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

We stayed for one night on 27 Dec 2012. The experience is wonderful. We were warmly welcomed by David who guided us in how to get about in Bath. The room (at he attic) was cozy and warm, simply a lovely place to stay in a winter night. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with vegetarian options. Will revisit if ever we decides to return to Bath in the future.

Room Tip: If you have huge and heavy lug gaged as we do, try to opt for a room in the ground floor. The stair...

We stayed here on Dec. 23, 2012 before heading out to Thornbury for Christmas. What a lovely place. Unfortunately, we arrived a bit late and were only there for one night, so we didn't get to enjoy the hotel as much as we might have. We were very warmly welcomed, however, and our room was really lovely. We stayed in the Garden Suite which has a private door out to the back garden. The room was immaculate and cozy with a small annex with an extra bed. The spotless bathroom was large with a beautiful bath and separate shower. A beautiful breakfast buffet as well as some hot selections greeted us in the morning. A really charming and well-run establishment!!

Room Tip: Ask for the Garden Suite if you're a smoker - you have a private door to the back garden and can...

We stayed on late availability deal, and thought what we paid was about right, would have felt rack rate of £175 was OTT, although Bath can be expensive. Unfortunately the guest next room, who was a regular (as we overheard the arrival discussion with staff which was held right outside our door!), was allowed to check out early at 6.30am which he did very noisily. Staff very good, that upped it from 3 to 4 rating

We received the friendliest greeting - and most sincere - for any hotel we have ever stayed in. That set the tone for an excellent stay in a beautiful city. Our room was comfortable with a newly refitted, lovely bathroom and the decor and attention to detail were spot on. Breakfast was great too and the hotel's location 1.5 miles from the centre of town meant you could burn off the calories you had had eaten by walking. That might be a downside for some visitors but once we had diverted off the very busy main road into Victoria Park it added to our enjoyment. You will need a taxi if you make the most of Bath's fabulous shops though, so two round trips is going to add £30 a day to the cost of your stay.

Myself and my fiancee stayed at the Apsley House, the weekend before Christmas. I stayed here myself once around 10 years ago, and had always talked about it with positive affection.

We were not disappointed.

Met by the wonderful Steph, every effort was made to make us feel welcome, roaring fire's to warm the frozen December soul!

We stayed in room 11, the Beau room, wonderful king sized bed (four poster), very very clean, the bathroom was superb with a very large iron bath, more than enough for one, or even two!

The hotel has everything "thought out", from the honesty bar for your drinks, to reading the papers by the fire.

Breakfast in the morning was delicious, and a kind farewall from David, made the experience set.

The hotel is really convenient for going out in Bath for a night out (bus is easy, but a taxi is £7 right into the center of bath to there the Abby is). The next morning we went shopping and used the park and ride (out of the hotel, down the hill to the left, £3 per adult return, brill)

Thanks Apsley, we will defiantly be back.

Room Tip: Room 11 is brill, old style bath, but no shower, we loved it, but others might not.

Stayed in Room 1 (Wellington Room) for two nights in December. Warm, personable welcome from the receptionist, who escorted us to our room. Beautiful accommodation. Spacious room with a high ceiling and en-suite bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was excellent, with a la carte cooked breakfasts supplemented by a buffet. The hotel is on Newbridge Hill, about a 20-minute walk into the City centre along a busy road. We chose to leave the car in the hotel car park and walk into town every day but found it best to go through Victoria Park, away from the main road. There is also a bus service (no 17) which drops you pretty much at the door. Staff were helpful with maps and directions to places to visit. No dining at the hotel, but Bath is spoilt for choice for good restaurants. We liked Loch Fyne and Sotto Sotto for dinner and the Pump Room for lunch. In short, a really good choice of hotel in the outskirts of Bath and would certainly stay here again.
