Although its a lovely Hotel providing Hearty Breakfasts, Clean Rooms & Friendly Service, the uphill hike from Bath is not for the faint hearted and poses a real challenge at the end of a day touring the town on foot!
On-site Parking is also an issue, as its very compact and the Entrance to it could prove difficult as its on a corner of a very bust junction.
There also appears to be No disabled access to the Hotel which has narrow passages and steep steps.
Having said all that, I'd recommend the Hotel for the young and fit traveller.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room No 16 with has a four-poster bed and a lovely spacious bathroom.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our 2 youngest children. I don't think many guests stay here with children but all the staff made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked through the door. I think the staff here make the difference as they all have a genuinely helpful approach to everything. I'm sure that nothin would have been too much trouble if we had needed anything. We did forget our travel cot but Jools was happy to provide theirs

Breakfast was excellent

We had the four poster bedroom and this was really convenient for us as there was a separately exit to the garden and car park for loading all the stuff we have to take with 2 kids on board

Nice and easy walk in and out of Bath town centre capped off a great weekend

I normally choose travelodge for price, convenience etc, however given the prices in Bath I decided to push the boat out, spend an extra £10 per night and go to Oldfields. Definitely the right decision! My room was a single, at the top of the house and surprisingly generous in size. I am 5'10" and I coped perfectly well with the sloping roof. The bed was comfortable and the triple glazing eliminated all road noise. And the air conditioning is definitely a bonus! Breakfast was fresh, well cooked and highly enjoyable. I was made to feel very welcome, and I will be returning next year to visit Bath with my husband, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else. Thank you!

This location is excellent for visiting Bath and surroundings; only 10 minutes walk downhill to city center breakfast is great; wifi worked very well in the room;
steep steps up to second floor for elderly people not to be recommended;
small parking court is a real challenge

My sister and I shared a twin room, staying the one night to visit the city and go to my niece's university exhibition with another couple of freinds, also staying at the hotel. We enjoyed a friendly helpful welcome (including booking a taxi for us). Pretty room with beautiful soft furnishings (extremely comfortable beds) and clean shower room with top toiletries. The breakfast was beautifully presented, the scrambled eggs and salmon particularly worth commenting on and the full English I had was delicious. We would definitely recommend the hotel tho' would mention the steep climb back up from the town and the tight parking for the cautious (permit can be acquired to park on the street). Thank you!

We had a great one-night stay at this inn... it was lovely.

Parking was a little tight, but we did have a spot, so I'm not complaining! Our room was perfection - a little room at the top of the stairs with a beautiful view!

The bathroom was clean and comfy, and breakfast was delicious - a full English breakfast, with a vegetarian option! (yay!)

Would definitely stay again.

Oldfields House gave us the most wonderful honeymoon stay. We spent a week here after our wedding and could not have imagined a more romantic and enjoyable way to spend our honeymoon. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and highly helpful. One morning they offered to reserve the breakfast table we had our eye on, and another morning, when we had to leave for a trip very early, they prepared us a takeaway breakfast the night before.

The daily breakfast itself is a real highlight. There is a range of choices, from full English to salmon, to Continental, each of which is delightfully prepared, and tastes delicious. There is the option to have Cava with your breakfast at no extra charge, and the coffee is all freshly made in a cafetiere. There is also fresh toast, yogurts and fresh fruit. The view from the breakfast room is a sight to behold, overlooking the city of Bath.

The room we stayed in was the four poster bedroom and came with a spa bath, which was very impressive. The room service was of a high standard, providing a clean and welcoming atmosphere. The attention to detail was impressive, even noticing the tea that we favoured in our room. The bed is a highly comfortable sleep and fantastic quality.

The location of the hotel is really convenient, as it is only a ten minute walk away from town, where there is plenty to do, including the Roman Baths, the Thermal Spa, and the Jane Austen Regency Tea Rooms. After your stay, the hotel gives the option to leave your bags in their reception after check out, so that you are able to enjoy the rest of the day before you go home without needing to carrying your bags, As we departed on the final day the staff prepared for us tea and coffee, and wished us well.

We could not recommend a stay at Oldfields highly enough, and we have our hearts set in returning!

Room Tip: The room facing the garden with spa bath and four poster is amazing.
