Just had a few days here and can’t recommend it enough. The perfect place to unwind and recharge your batteries. Right from the entrance of the site everywhere looks well kept and the reception area is like walking into a nice hotel with lovely friendly staff.

We stayed in a Norland Lodge & it was perfect. So clean, which to us is most important. The bathroom is so large with two sinks, a bath and a shower. I hardly ever use a bath when on holiday as it never feels or looks clean enough for me but I had a lovely soak in this one every day while I read my book.

I had read all the reviews so brought the extra loo roll! . Washing up liquid, tea towel, sponge, tea, coffee, milk pots were all provided. I had read that it was a small fridge but it was a normal under counter sized fridge. The bed is a very comfy super king size & they even provide dressing gown & slippers. They have everything you need.

We had a lot of rain overnight which we didn’t mind & went out during the day (we were very lucky with the weather) so we didn’t get chance to sit outside on the decking as it was a bit wet at breakfast time. Had we been there longer we would probably have had a day sat outside doing nothing and it would have been so relaxing. It is just so quiet and peaceful there. All you can hear is the birdsong.

There had been a few negative reviews about the food in the Bistro but the bar & bistro looked so nice we decided to eat there on the first evening. The food was served quickly, was hot and very enjoyable. Again it’s very relaxing in this area and we spent a very pleasant evening there.

There is also a Vintage Inn pub “The Globe” a couple of miles away (turn right out of the site, next right & continue couple of miles to the roundabout, pub is on the left). This was also a very nice place to eat and they accepted our Gourmet Card.

There’s plenty of places to visit close by. We had a day in Bath, visited Castle Coombe on the edge of the Cotswolds (“England’s prettiest village”), Bradford on Avon to sit & watch the canal boats, and a visit to Lacock, a picturesque village owned by NT where Downton Abbey has recently been filmed. There’s still plenty more for us to visit on a return visit.

We will definately be back. We cannot fault anything about this site. If you are looking for somewhere nice & quiet just to relax and have a few leisurely days sightseeing then this is the perfect place.

A lovely place to stay, well equipped and clean. My little ones loved that they had a TV in the bedroom and a duck in the bath! Nice and peaceful and from our lodge we could watch the hot air balloons. Not much for children to do but we knew that before booking and took plenty of toys to keep them entertained. Royal Victoria park has a fantastic play area and only a short drive away.
Great wine fridge...unfortunately I left a full bottle of Malibu so I'm sure someone will have a drink on me!

Excellent accommodation - we had the three bedroom lodge which was spacious, well equipped and was plenty big enough for 4 adults and two teenage girls. Because of the needs of the teenagers we upgraded the WiFi for a small cost, about £20, and it worked really well.

This is a base from which to visit the area, there is nothing to do on site apart from a couple of walks, one of which was for no obvious reason closed whilst we were there.

There is an excellent farm shop a short drive away which has all you need to self cater with a great butchery to ensure a god BBQ.

Not sure what it would be like if the weather was bad and you had children to please but we enjoyed it.

There is a Bistro on site which is the subject of a separate review but just to mention it's not all it's cracked up to be!

Thank you for your review of your recent stay with us here at Bath Mill, I'm pleased that you found your lodge so comfortable and spacious for your family to relax in throughout the birthday celebrations! The Premium WiFi vouchers we offer as an optional upgrade are priced at £14.95 and provide good value for up to 10 devices to be connected, so I'm glad this suited your needs perfectly for the duration of your stay. The gate through to the walk you refer to no longer offers access, unfortunately, due to circumstances outside our control, however, we aim to advise guests of this at check-in and can also provide details of an alternative route which leads on to the same walk. My apologies if you were not made aware of this. Regarding our on-site facilities, we do have a small but well-equipped gym available for the exclusive use of our guests, as well as an outdoor play area suitable for younger children, but our 'USP' would definitely have to be the soothing, natural environment, tranquil ambience and very relaxing base... all very much in keeping with what you would expect from a Retreat! Thank you again for your comments and we hope to welcome you back again soon, for another special occasion!

Just returned from this lovely place and would highly recommend for a weekend break.
Had the Norland 2 person and a dog lodge which was just fab. Clean, stylish, lovely big bed and a lovely warm weekend made it perfect.
Had a meal at the bistro which was served just about warm but was ok. We were too hungry to complain.
Could do with a little shop on site.
Nice and quiet but need a car to visit bath which wasn’t a problem for us.
Would definitely recommend for a short break. Don’t think you can get much better for a Lodge that will take pets

Thank you for your review of your stay at Bath Mill and we appreciate your great recommendation of our pet-friendly Norland lodge! We are always keen to resolve any issues in our on-site restaurant, but please accept my apologies that your meals were not as warm as you would have liked. Although we do not have a shop at our Retreat, there are a few local stores within a 10 minute walk. Reception are always glad to assist with directions and to provide further information regarding bus routes, taxis and the nearby Park and Ride options for the short journey into the city centre. Thanks again for your comments and we hope to welcome you and your dog to Bath Mill again soon!

We booked a Hartfield watersedge lodge for 6 of us, Friday to Monday. It was very well equipped with everything you could need, very spacious (except for the twin room which was small but adequate) and mostly very clean although the shower tray did have some mould around the edge of the tray and the wardrobe in the second bedroom did smell of damp. The site was clean, peaceful and very pretty with a stream running through it. Staff were friendly and helpful. We only had drinks at the bar and bistro as surprisingly they had stopped serving food just after 6pm on the Sunday so we had to go to a local restaurant instead. A very pleasant stay.

Room tip: The lodges at the far end of the site, past reception seemed in the best location

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay with us and I'm happy to hear you had such a lovely weekend visit to Bath Mill! Our Reception team are always keen to assist with resolving any reported cleanliness or maintenance issues, as it is always our aim to deliver a top-class service to our guests in all respects. Generally speaking, our on-site bar and restaurant will close earlier on a Sunday evening; we aim to advise our guests of this at check-in, however, we do offer an extended lunch service through to 5pm instead on this day, which is always very popular. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope to extend our friendly welcome to you on another future occasion!
