“Lovely B&B but price is high”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

We had a lovely weekend in Bath and stayed at Cranleigh. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless and the beds very comfortable. The B&B is full of character and the staff were very friendly. We felt the breakfast could be improved on - some pastries or croissants on offer or a few more options on the menu would help. We did feel the price was high however it seems as though this is the norm in Bath - not a cheap town to visit! All in all a lovely place to stay and we would recommend.

Thank you for your kind review.

I'm sorry we could not provide you with croissants for your breakfast.  We do try to offer a varied and imaginative menu  and we have tried providing pastries in the past but unfortunately we have found  wastage in providing them fresh every day to costly.  We do have a 'English style' alternative for those not wanting a cooked breakfast  - our Toasty Trio which consists of 3 English style breads - a crumpet, a muffin and fruit bread is available daily.

Your comments about accommodation prices in Bath is correct. At Cranleigh we work hard at keeping our prices competitive. We have developed  a range of multi-night tariffs which we hope gives good value for your money.....please remember to book direct with us via our own website (see top of page for our details) Our direct prices are always better value than booking via a 3rd party website.

My Girlfriend and I stayed here over the BH weekend and found the B&B to be very nice. We had the 4 poster bed in our garden room which was lovely although we were awoken in the early hours by some old man in the next room talking really loudly. Maybe the owners need to invest in some sort of insulation to reduce the noise from one room to another.
The breakfast was nice for what it was but seemed a bit stingy on the portion sizes.
I'd have to say it was an enjoyable weekend, but for the lack of smiles from staff and very high prices on the rooms £182 to be exact I don't think I'd be going back there.

Cranleigh was a gem..
Denise and Colin are welcoming, good sense of humour, full of information and comfortable to stay with as well. The house is well furnished, kept to Victorian style ,spotless and with modern facilities. We had a large digital TV with a DVD player. There were DVD's to borrow and lots of information and Maps on Bath and places to visit. The house has a licence so it you needed a bottle of wine or mineral water that was available too although there are shops and a great delicatessen nearby.
We wanted a weekend away with no driving and time for an afternoon snooze if we wanted one. We had all of that, a comfortable, monumental bed that Napoleon would have liked, great garden and countryside views and all on the ground floor!
The breakfasts were generous and excellent quality and the breakfast room was spacious and comfortable.Service was pleasant and thoughtful.
The staff were attentive and not pushing to service the rooms. We had exactly what we wanted, a good change and break from home in pleasant surroundings.Bath didn't dissapoint and we had a great time with the added bonus of the music festival. We are definitely going back to Cranleigh on our next visit.

Room Tip: Rooms 1&2 are huge and on the ground floor with level access from the front of house.Just a few...

This lovely Victorian terrace a short distance from Bath was ideal for a overnight stay. This is a convenient house on the bus route into Bath and also not far from the Park and Ride. The room was warm and comfortable and the bathroom clean with pretty toiletries. The breakfast was all you wanted, freshly cooked, and served with a smile.

We stayed at Cranleigh for three nights and we were so impressed. It is clean and comfortable, cleverly furnished in an eclectic but tasteful Victorian style and thought has gone into every detail. Our room had twin beds with a mock-tester canopy and matching drapes, comfortable chairs, a desk, hairdryer, ironing board, extra pillows (not needed), a beautiful veneered coffer with all those little things: a nail file, plasters, spare toothbrush, painkillers etc. The en-suite was modern with lovely toiletries in pump dispensers: the shower efficient and powerful. The room was extremely clean.
Breakfast is provided in the dining room: from a menu including smoked salmon, pancakes and of course traditional English with high quality ingredients. It is beautifully cooked and delivered to your table with a smile. The conserves are local artisan made and delicious.
The staff - Denise and Colin- are pleasant, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. They work incredibly hard and take pride in their guesthouse.
It is a little way out of Bath, but within walking distance of the town and buses are available at regular intervals. Despite being on the main road it is quiet with lovely views over the valley.
I cannot find fault with Cranleigh- it is marvellous.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have a wonderful view

We had a very good stay at the Cranleigh. Our room was spacious, with a great view. The staff gave us a warm welcome and helpful tips for our stay. The good bus service into Bath meant we didn't need the car, an added bonus.

The couple who run Cranleigh, and their staff are very friendly, efficient and welcoming.Well furnished, clean room with thoughtful toiletries and other 'emergency' items provided. Lots of hot water, wonderful breakfasts with loads of choice and Denise is happy to mix and match whatever you want to eat.Local maps, nearby eateries and discount vouchers supplied on arrival and Denise and Colin go out of their way to help in any way they can.
It is about 30 minutes walk into town but there are regular buses going past the door.
Our room was mostly quiet although was a little warm for sleeping and because it faced the main road was noisy if we opened the window.
The guest house is licensed with a mini bar in the breakfast room, but there is no residents lounge to relax in so you have to drink in your room. Only other negative was the car park which was down a narrow steep drive at the side of the house and no room to turn so you ended up reversing out uphill onto the main road with parked cars either side of the entrance. There are only 5 parking spaces so we found it easier to park on the main road although often a short distance away as it's quite busy.

Room Tip: Our room was on the second floor which was quite a climb up the stairs so don't book rooms 7,9,1...
