“Exactly what it says on the tin”

Let's get this clear; Jimmy's is an all you can eat buffet restaurant in a tourist town. That means it gets really very busy at peak times (tourist season, after Bath Rugby play at home etc). You don't get fancy service or fine dining. What you *do* get is a very heavily Asian-slanted selection with some salads, roasts and pizza/pasta thrown in. Children love it for the choice and I love it for the excellent fresh-cooked Indian food - various naans and dosas are cooked to order as well as pasta dishes and stir-fries.

For my taste the dosas are as good as I've had in Gujerati joints in Southall and the chicken tikka and lamb koftes are excellent. The naans come in a range of styles and are cooked in front of you. The Chinese dishes are usually pretty good. On the downside the "Sunday roast" can be a bit ropey but the salads are good.

In summary, there's something for everyone if you avoid peak times (late lunch is much more relaxed and cheaper than dinner) and leave your preconceptions at the door. Leave space for the ice-cream and pudding station too.

“Lovely Clean and friendly - must return very soon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

Went here middle of November with My husband, friend her partner and their year old, was so impressed went back a few weeks ater, the atmosphere was lovely, the food amazing and very child friendly.
The only downside was the first time was a saturday so had to wait slightly for drinks to be delivere d to table from order.
Was slightly dissapointed that the mexican displayed on website was not on offer but the food that was here totally made up for it.
The food is constantly bein brought out fresh and the plates quickly tidied away each time, lots of vegetarian choice and love dthe fresh pasta dish made just for me.
to top it the staff were extremely pleasant, will be sure to return and hopefully soon :)

“Awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

A very large party on a works Christmas do, we weren't expecting haute cuisine but definitely expected something edible.

Service was terrible, drinks taking half an hour to arrive and were then just dumped on one empty place.

Food was horrible, all the curries were watery and tasteless, all the "fresh" food to be cooked in front of you was nearly empty and never replenished - the dregs of what was there was limp and dry. Even the chips were disgusting!!

Will never go to a Jimmy's again.

“Good for a spontaneous group”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

The family decided to get together for a spontaneous meal, and knowing how big Jimmy Spices is, we took a chance and all headed there. No problem!
The service was friendly and nice, and although we sometimes had to wait for our drinks, it wasn't a problem, as we just went and ate some more!
The food was plentiful and varied. And it was great being able to take a bunch of people with varied tastes to a restaurant where everyone could have whatever cuisine they liked. And try as many different cuisines as we could fit in.
Would definitely say this place is great value for money if you have a big appetite .... But maybe not the place if you are after a romantic dinner. The room is large and noisy, which suited us fine, but may not be to everyone's taste!
