“Lovely but overpriced”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Spent 2 nights here recently and whilst I agree with all the comments about it being a beautiful property, spotlessly clean and with a delicious breakfast, when we compare the price to the 4 star hotel in Cardiff we spent the previous 2 nights at, we feel it was a little overpriced. I realise it is not a hotel and that it is in a fantastic situation in Bath, but, even so, with parking and breakfast it cost £412 for the 2 of us for the 2 nights. The slatted blind in the room did not shut out the light completely which, although not a problem for me, was a problem for my sister-in-law. Also, it would have been nice to have been able to keep the complimentary bottled water cool in a small fridge, as it was lukewarm. These are the only criticisms, which were very minor, but which would have made the stay slightly better value.

Thank you for taking the time to wite a review, Bath is the most expensive city in the Uk in terms of hotel prices - we even beat London, so we think that for the product and level of service we offer we are good value for money.

I take your point about the water, we are looking into chilling in in the summer months for guests who like it extra cold, but putting fridges in the rooms would be a noisy addition to the peace and quiet, I do wish you would have asked though and we happily would have chilled your water for you.

I hope that you will come and stay again and give us a chance to rectify the minor criticisms.

We had a lovely stay in Bath for our second anniversary in January this year. Villa Magdala is a top class boutique hotel where really enjoyed staying. The rooms are nice and cosy, bright clean, with comfy bedding. The breakfast itself justifies a stay there! Probably the best breakfast we had to date! We will stay there again when we come back to Bath.
We would have loved to see the cute little dog Billy a bit more :)

Thank you so mcuh for your review........Billy tends to want guests sausages at breakfast so he sleeps in the office until the guests have gone out for the day then he comes out to play - next time just ask and we will bring him up for you to see. I do hope you come and stay again soon.

Stayed only 1 night unfortunately but cannot rate it highly enough. A beautiful property and immaculately kept. Wonderful staff and special mention for the receptionist on duty Wednesday afternoon. We will definitely recommend this to all our friends. Great breakfast as well

Room Tip: We had what was described as a Good room couldn't be better.

Fantastic location just 5 minutes from the centre of Bath. Beautiful hotel, lovely decor and spotlessly clean. The choice at breakfast was superb and all freshly cooked. Staff were attentive and helpful. Tea and muffins on arrival an added bonus.

We booked this B and B Boutique hotel at the last minute and are so pleased that we did. The location is fantastic, on a quiet road opposite a park but a mere a few minutes' walk into the centre of Bath. The hotel's staff are friendly and very helpful without being intrusive - nothing was too much trouble, they even gave us a card and a box of chocolates as it was our anniversary. The decor throughout is lovely and the whole hotel is immaculately clean. Our bed was very comfortable and the bedding just right to enable a comfortable night's sleep. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and a complimentary Bucks Fizz. The only slight 'criticism' would be that breakfast only runs until 9:30am mid-week and we would have preferred it was until 10:00am so that we could have had a little more of a 'lie-in' in the comfy bed. However, we realise that lots of B and B hotels do only serve breakfast until 9:30am on weekdays.

We would wholly recommend both a visit to beautiful Bath and this wonderful little hotel - thank you for a great stay - especially to Agnes and Magda, who were especially helpful.

Room Tip: All rooms look wonderful but we stayed on the second floor and the rooms there seem to be especially...

How lovely....Thank you for taking the time to write such lovely comments, we really appreciate it.

We may look at changing our breakfast times, although we think a 9.30am last orders breakfast works well with our check out time of 11.00am, as guests usually sit finishing thei rcoffee and pastries until about 10.00am anyway.

I do hope to see you again.

Just a 5 minute walk from downtown, this place was very convenient but nice and quiet, outside of the hustle and bustle. Our room was clean and bright and comfortable, and the service was exceptionally attentive, kind, and helpful. Everything about this place felt decadent, most especially the breakfasts! Holy moly, the breakfasts were unlike anything I've had at another b&b. I had kippers one morning, smoked salmon another, a light and airy parfait another, always with a complimentary bucks fizz and smoothie. Everything came out to perfection; they certainly have a master chef on staff!

I will pass your comments onto Will - our chef! He will be thrilled to hear that you loved your breakfast. Will is passionate about local produce and always cooking things fresh to order, no pre-cooked bacon from us!

See you when you next visit from the states! Maybe Eggs Benedict next time?!

Wonderful staff, amazing breakfasts, hotel room very spacious, great location as only a few minutes walk into Bath. Would definitely stay again. The hotel is opposite a lovely park, very quiet location. We stayed on the second floor so could sleep with windows open which was great as it was a very warm night.
