introduction was ok as we were in fact quite late due to traffic. Room big if a little dated and I cant handle soft mattresses and this was v soft. Power shower excellent. Apparently there's a garden but couldn't see it or see if was actually a sizable one. Location is best point as it take 10 mins to walk to city. Breakfast not bad but not much toast on offer ! Also, it wasn't clear if payment had been taken or not so praying that the we have not been charged twice. So overall worth 4 stars not i would say 3.....

I have read both good and bad reviews of Highways House, and I took a chance. I wasn't dissappointed. The House is located on a hill overlooking the city, an easy walk down to the town, very steep back up though! We walked up the hill to a great pub for dinner, best food in England! Also made a trip to the Thermae Spa for a night swim - highly recommended. We did not stay in the House itself, rather the 'outbuilding' as it hasd been called. It is obviously an extension, and would dissappoint if you were expecting to stay in the guest house. The room was clean, well appointed and roomy. Wifi only available in the main house. The breakfast was good. Owners were very nice and personable.

Just returned from a 2 day stay in Highways House and all I can say to anyone considering it is just don't bother! We were originally offered a family room for £80 which we took, but on arriving there we were shown to what looked like an outhouse. The bathroom was not one which I wanted to use ... the lamps above the bed didn't work and wa altogether rather yuk! There was no internet connection even though we were assured it was available in all rooms.
We asked to move and were given the smallest most basic room in the house for what we were told was £70. The heating was on all night and off during the day, so was quite cold. On leaving and paying we were asked for £80 per night PLUS 20% internet booking fee - we booked by phone but they couldn't remember this part. On questioning the manager, she gave us a £6 refund as she then said the room was only £72 per night! What a b***s up. Where do they get these people from.
Anyway, I was so unhappy about the whole experience I have sent emails to Highways, the Bath tourist board and also the Somerset tourist board.
The Bath tourist board tells me that they not longer recognise Highways House and would NOT RECOMMEND IT!!! Please take note anyone who decides to use them.
On a last note, the cooked breakfast was good, cooked well and served efficiently. Highways one saving grace......

Our room was very spacious and clean, with adequate furnishings and a comfortable bed. Although a little out of central Bath, it was only a 20 min walk. Staff were extremely helpful to us.

We were completely taken by the look and feel of this quaint accommodation especially after the hustle and bustle of touring london :). Extremely pretty with flowers in full bloom and quiet and peaceful. We booked a Superior Double room and it was very spacious, clean and same goes for the bathroom. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Location is a bit of a walk from the town center but most places seem to be about the same plus there are buses that run. We did get a bit fleeced taking a cab from the train station - in hindsight we should've haggled before-hand. The only downside we found was that there didn't seem to be anyone around most of the time to answer queries etc. However, we did get a great tip and ended up visiting a fantastic local pub called The Bear - homey with lovely food and friendly people. All-in-all we had a wonderfully relaxing time and I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Superior Double room was very spacious, airy and clean
