We were due to visit Bath this weekend for a friends hen doo. Normally when we have stayed we booked into The Holiday Inn or similar. This weekend we decided to push the boat out a bit as we were only there for one night, and booked into the Bailbrook Lodge Hotel, and we are so glad we did.
From the initial arrival and the warm welcome we received, and the guided tour, not to mention the announcement of the Champagne breakfast we were very happy!
We had booked a four poster suite, and it was lovely, TV and DVD player, ipod docking station alarm clock, and the piece de resistance the walk in shower!! We loved the room, the decor and all in all an excellent stay, even though only for one night. The only negative would be the staircase, which isn't an issue, unless you've been out and had a few sherries beforehand!
The following morning we came down to breakfast, Full English and Eggs Benedict, not to mention a plentiful and often replenished cold buffet.
We will definitely be staying again the next time we come to Bath, and cant recommend it enough. Its somewhat out of our normal price range, but well worth it.

We have just returned from a long weekend to bath to celebrate twenty five years together, we chose bailbrook lodge and upgraded to a four poster suite.the suite was beautiful with all the facilities needed. The staff were warm and friendly and gave good advice about places to go and transport to use.Breakfast was delicious with plenty of hot and cold choices and the service was very prompt. bailbrook Is only a ten minute journey from the city centre on the bus and set back from the road so very quiet. Ample car parking and set in a perfect location.Thankyou for a lovely stay, we will definitely be returning.

Fantastic stay, made to feel very welcome by all the staff who couldn't help enough. A special mention to Ed for his help advising on places to go and places to eat, a credit to the hotel. A beautiful hotel full of character and quirks. Handy for going into Bath by bus save trying to park but suitably based to launch out into the wider area. Our children booked us into the hotel for a week as a surprise and could not have picked a better hotel ourselves. Would highly recommend - thank you Bailbrook Lodge for making our stay a fantastic break to remember. Excellent across the board!

My wife and I stayed just for one night and have promised ourselves an early return soon. Justine welcomed us with coffee and biscuits followed by taking us to our extremely pleasant room.
Justine takes much pride in the smallest of detail such as making sure that each soap in the bedroom has the wrapping facing exactly in the right position, check it out!
After a very comfortable night, plenty of spare pillows and blanket, we thoroughly enjoyed a delicious breakfast that arrived fresh and hot. There was no sign of it being cooked previously and being kept warm.
The hotel was ideally situated by being a ten minute bus ride in to the center of Bath and we were able to leave our car there. The bus stopped just outside the Lodge for both directions making travel easy.
We plan a return soon and definitely take advantage of a two night stay.
Having read some of the previous negative reviews, we found these to be very much unfounded. Our stay was excellent, comfortable and homely.
Thankyou Justine for your hospitality.

Just returned from a lovely stay in Bath. The lodge is a short walk (50 mins) from the centre placed on the edge of Bath itself. We were greeted by Justine and shown to our lovely four poster room overlooking the gardens. We hadnt realised one of our favourite bands was playing The Forum that night so Justine first tried to get us tickets but could not, so she called a cab so we sould get into town quickly and we did indeed get the tickets and had a fantastic night. The following morning we enjoyed a Champagne breakfast second to none. The staff are really lovely at the lodge and make you very welcome. I would highly recommend this accommodation for a sightseeing trip, its peaceful, comfortable and a lovely place to stay.

We were very tired Americans when we arrived at the lodge. Greeted right away by Justine who gave us all her attention. She gave us the tour and took us up to our second floor room. Great view, canopy bed, etc...we fell asleep for several hours and woke up hungry. Justine directed us to a pub about 10 minutes walking ...great experience and we went back our 2 nd night. Breakfast was lovely...so much selection...service was excellent...made new friends...the weather turned windy, rainy and cold...but it is an old building ..we grabbed a couple of blankets...and snuggled. Price was great...I will stay here when I return...

We had Room 23 - The room was frigid. The radiators didn't work, although they were working in the halls and general areas. The key was not exactly right so unlocking and locking was a chore. In face, upon our late return it took me and my brother-in-law 15 minutes to get the door open. Having claustrophobia I couldn't lock the door from the inside once we were settled just because of the thought of getting 'locked in'. Did I say it was 'cold?' and extra blankets didn't help any. Both of us had the worst night sleep (if you could call it 'sleep') we have ever had. Did I say it was 'cold?'. They have old fashioned style tubs, but you are not allowed to use the French shower hose as a shower because they worry about water on the floor, etc. and make you more comfortable by stating that any damage would be against you. The WiFi did not work although when questioned (two times) the manager stated no password was required, but the system sure wanted one ... The TV didn't work - No Signal. Breakfast in the morning of our departure was very nice and the staff was very hospitable.

Room Tip: I am sure they must have rooms where everything worked, but we didn't have one, thus we wouldn...

As one of the partners who own The Bailbrook Lodge, I would like to reply to this review.

The customer has made reference a number of times in the review that the room was severely cold and that the radiators did not work. With respect the radiators do work and we can only assume that the client in error in trying to adjust the level of heating from the radiators via the manual controls somehow turned it in the opposite direction which would have turned the heating off.

I appreciate that May has been an unusually cold month but find it difficult to understand why even with the excellent quality Merino wool blankets that our guests remained cold. We very much regret this.

Having checked the lock on this particular room we have found it is difficult to open and we have dealt with this – our apologies.

Turning to what is described as “old fashioned style tub” this is in fact a brand new fashionable slipper bath which we have recently installed in two of the bathrooms to give another option to our customers. The shower hose is designed to enable guests to wash their hair and rinse off bath water should they wish but it is not designed to have a stand up shower for obvious reasons. We have a mix of bath and shower facilities at Bailbrook Lodge – wet room style walk in showers, traditional showers, traditional baths with shower fittings and, of course, these new slipper baths which gives our customers a wide choice. It is unfortunate that our guests on this occasion did not request a room with a shower as opposed to a bath

We are also at a loss to understand why these guests could not access our WiFi system which works effectively throughout the building and having checked the TV on receipt of this complaint we found it is working perfectly therefore cannot understand why there was no signal on this occasion.

We very much regret that these guests did not have a very enjoyable stay with us albeit they enjoyed breakfast and found our staff hospitable.
