“What a bed!”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights whilst attending a private event in the village. We enjoyed our stay here . This hotel would not suit anyone looking for a glossy modern environment but we enjoyed the atmosphere of rather tired grandeur. Our room was fine but the star was the enormous four poster bed which dominated the room. Despite swaying rather alarmingly when ever anyone got in it, it was extremely comfortable. The fact that, at 5' tall, I couldn't actually get in (or on )it only added to the general hilarity. Despite my best attempts (I felt like one of the Borrowers!) I had to resort to climbing on a chair. A mounting block or small steps would have been appreciated.

The bathroom was ok, hot water came through eventually. Breakfast good and the staff were very efficient and smart.
I would definitely stay here again but only if we got the four poster!

Thank you for your recent review. We were glad to read that you enjoyed your two night stay with us and found our period property with its traditional features and rooms in keeping with its elegant grandeur. The hotel offers a number of four poster rooms all with spectacular views out over the local countryside and Avon Valley. It was also good to read that you took the opportunity to dine with us for breakfast and found the staff and service very efficient.

Thank you for choosing the Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel, we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Rooms were very clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast was similar to bad airline food. It was shocking and so was the service. I can't believe we paid for it! I agree with one of the previous reviews this is a glorious wedding venue.

Thank you for your recent review. I was glad to read that you found the hotel clean and comfortable and considered it to be a glorious wedding venue. However I was surprised to read your comments regarding breakfast. The breakfast offering at the hotel consists of a selection of toast and preserves, cereals, fresh fruit, cold meats and cheeses along with our hot buffet consisting of sausages, bacon, tomatoes, baked beans and fried bread, to accompany this eggs can be cooked to order as can kippers, haddock and porridge. I can only apologise if breakfast fell below your expectations and should you have bought your concerns to the attention of a member of staff I can assure you that every step would have been taken to rectify any shortfall in expectation that you may have encountered.

Thank you for choosing the Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel, we look forward to welcoming you back again soon and can assure you of a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Went here with my girlfriend for valentines.Nice hotel, very comfy and clean, our only problem was the gap under our door was about 2 inches high and this meant we could hear every movement in the corridor and were aware they could probably here us!

Thank you for your recent review. We were glad to read that you enjoyed your valentines break with us and found our hotel very comfortable. I would like to point out that the hotel is a period property with many original features, corridors and rooms that our guests enjoy. However I have bought you concerns regarding the door to the attention of the general manager and he assures me that he will investigate and rectify any issues as required.

The hotel is set in a quite area with lovely gardens. We had four nights stay, the room was small on the front of the hotel, but we were out all day so it ok. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals in the restaurant were good value. A good place to stay away from busy Bath.

The hotel is in a lovely scenic setting. we had a small room at the back with a very large bed, we were happy with that as it was nice and quiet. Both on the Friday and Saturday there were wedding parties but we didnt find that intrusive. The meal in the hotel restaurant on Friday evening was very good and good value, we were surprised that more people werent eating in there. Bath is approx 4 miles from the hotel, we visited in February so we didnt have problems with parking, there are park and rides which the hotel will advise on, if you use one of them check the evening closing as that might not suit if you want an evening in Bath. We ate at the Hop Pole Inn on the Saturday evening which had open fires and was lovely and cosy, the food was very good pub grub and was a nice contrast to our meal from the evening before. Would advise booking at a weekend as the pub is popular and quite small. The breakfasts at the hotel were buffet style with a reasonable range of choices, hot and cold. you can order from a small a la carte menu things like porridge or omelettes. The hotel is clean and comfortable in a good position, i would be very happy to stay there again.

We picked this hotel because it was offering the best price for accommodation in the Bath area. It is about 3 miles out of Bath in a small village with beautiful scenery and pleasant walks/runs. We had a spacious and comfortable room that looked as though it had been recently refurbished. It had all you would expect from a 3 star hotel.

Only spent one night here, but it was a pleasant night.
The room was a good size and the bed was nice and comfy, the room also had all the usual suspects.
A slight niggle was that the TV didn't have many channels available, but the scenery more than made up for that.
In conclusion: I'd go back.
