This hotel is perfectly located for a visit to Bath. The hotel is very clean, the staff very accommodating who went out of their way to help us with any requests that we made of them. Just a pointer for anyone with special dietary requirements, tell them before you arrive and they will makes sure that they have what you need in stock, soya milk for example. I would definitely stay here again if I was to visit Bath.

Room Tip: We were told that there is a plan to start renovating the rooms at some point this year, however our room was fine, it is an old building and you expect it to have little quirks, squeaky floorboards for example . . .

My wife and I were treated to a two night stay at The Abbey Hotel in Bath as an 80th birthday present from our three children.
The hotel is very central and once there, we didn't use our car at all as every where is within walking distance. We were allocated a room on the 2nd floor at the rear of the hotel which was nice and quiet as the front of the hotel could be quite noisy from local outside bars.
The bedroom was clean and newly decorated and had very comforatable twin beds which we asked for. The bathroom was also newly fitted with a full bath, shower, wc and wash-hand basin. Plenty of hot water available, Electric fan was provided in the bedroom as was a clock/radio and a flat screen T.V. with just a limited amount of channels to watch but Bath is the place to visit and not to sit and watch T.V. Tea & coffee facilities are provided and also a good hair dryer too.
Parking, dropping off passengers and unloading baggage is a problem outside of the hotel as it is aso a set down place and pick up spot for tour buses and coaches and the traffic wardens are not very helpful or considerate to guests arriving or departing from the hotel. This situation may change as there is a petition being dawn up by local businesses and also the Abbey Hotel so this problem may improve?
Breakfast was part buffet and a hot course cooked to order and served by very helpful waiting staff. Midweek visits to this hotel are cheaper than weekends.
We didn't eat any evening meals at the hotel but Bath has a multituide of good and excellent restaurants to suit all tastes and budjets.
Do not even think of driving around Bath - it is very complicated and it is a city for walking around and admiring the architecture. One of the sightseeing tour buses which start right outside of the hotel is well worth a trip and gives you a good introduction to this most beautiful city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel - you don't get a good view but you will get a good nights sleep ! ! !

We stayed in the Best Western Abbey Hotel in Bath for our first Wedding Anniversary - a Saturday in July. We had booked on line and in advance. When we arrived I could have cried. The room cost £150 - quite a lot of money for a very small, tired, room, with dated, cheap and falling apart furniture. In one corner of the room the wall paper was black and peeling off the wall. The Bathroom was dated and poorly equipped, the shower did not work properly and was in an old bath surrounded by a shower curtain. Despite filling in a customer survey and complaining at the desk, I was not offered a discount or any other offer. I think for a large hotel chain like Best Western they should be providing much better quality at these outragous prices. Sorry but being in the centre of Bath is not good enough... I have stayed in much better hotels in other cities for far less money.

Room Tip: Dont stay here!!!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of the hotel, we welcome all feedback whether positive or otherwise which is constructive and will help us maintain the high standards we aim to achieve.

I was most disappointed and sorry to read of your dissatisfaction and sincerely apologise that this was not dealt with satisfactorily when you checked out.

The hotel was taken over by private owners, Ian and Christa Taylor, several months ago and they are currently in the process of refurbishing and decorating all areas of the hotel including the room that you were allocated, which although of little consequence to you has now been completed.

I have obtained your details from the customer feedback that you completed and will contact you directly.

Kind regards

this hotel is all about location! right on the edge of the pulse of all that is happening in this great Roman/Georgian City rooms are average but overpriced as are all hotels in this one of England's major tourist venues! Staff are somewhat stuffy and distant offering you the basic lip service that most popular hotels offer in these kind of high profile situations breakfast is good with wait staff attentive! parking is a problem but this place again is in the perfect location with the Roman Baths vitually within arms reach

We stayed at this lovely hotel last week, Upon arrival we had a very warm welcome from the Reception staff, they were happy and friendly. the check in (and check out) was quick and efficent and they were extremely helpful answering all of our questions.
Our room had a beautiful view of Bath, We could see the Abbey and the River Avon.
We had all we needed in our room, a hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities, a television and an extremely comfortable bed!
We did not have dinner in the hotel, however, our breakfast was a lovely experience, all the staff were happy and attentive and the breakfast itself was superb.
A really lovely hotel to stay in when visiting Bath, we will definantly be returning very soon to visit again!
