Beautiful, spotlessly clean, newly refurbished hotel. Beds sooo comfy. Excellent breakfast - no waiting to be seated and served reasonably quickly. Dining room staff very accommodating. Can't fault it.

We booked at the last minute for a one night stay and were delighted. Lovely rooms in the modern extension, with very comfortable beds and nice toiletries.

Staff were very friendly and the breakfast service was fine. We got a table straight away and the cooked food arrived reasonably promptly.

We found the staff friendly and flexible. Only downsides were weak coffee and, like many hotels, the rooms were too hot.

It’s great to see that you had a good time. All our rooms have air cooling; it is such a shame that you didn’t ask someone to take a look to see if it was operating correctly to make your stay more comfortable. I do hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back soon.

Kind regards

Spent one night at Francis Hotel Bath in August. I wasn't expecting much but really liked the hotel. The public areas have some quirky decoration which add to the character and the refurbished rooms although not large are very comfortable. Staff were helpful and business like, not exactly full of charm but did the job! Breakfast was very good in a delightful sunny breakfast room. Location can't be beaten in the heart of beautiful Bath.

First impressions of the Hotel were very good, it is very central so you can walk to all the main attractions Bath has to offer. The hotel overlooks a square where people gather to play boules, read etc. we enjoyed watching life go by from our window with a cup of coffee.

The staff on reception were all very friendly and offered to park our car for us and carry our luggage upto the room. The hotel has a car park around the back which operates on a first come first served basis. It costs £15 which is very steep but you won't find cheaper in the local long term car parks. The closest was on Charlotte Street and was £8.50 for up to 12 hours, we didn't want to risk getting a ticket by staying longer than 12 hours so we parked at the hotel. After you have checked out you will be charged £3 per hour so it is worth moving to Charlotte Street if you intend to stay in Bath for a while. 4 hours cost £5.40 and 6 hours cost about £6.40, this was the cheapest we could find.

We stayed in a feature room which has recently been decorated and was clean and a good size. We were very pleased with the room, it looked great with very modern decor and a four poster bed. It was a large and very comfortable bed. The toiletries were nice (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion) and there was also an iron, coffee machine, tea making tray, fluffy towels and bath robes and iPod dock which will charge your iPhone if you have one. The hotel also supplies a hair dryer and there is a good sized flat screen TV.

The communal areas of the hotel were equally well presented and we enjoyed an evening drink in the bar although the prices were typically high as you would expect in a hotel. £10.50 for a coffee and a beer.

The only thing that let the Hotel down was the service at breakfast which has been commented on by other reviewers. Again the staff were very friendly but I have never had to queue for breakfast in a hotel before. There were plenty of free tables but they were all covered in dirty dishes. We were taken to a table after about 10 minutes and ordered coffee, tea and white toast. It must have taken 15 to 20 minutes for these to come and half the toast was brown. We didn't bother complaining. My husband ordered a full English and I ordered pancakes with honey. We had almost given up when it finally arrived although I have to say that the standard of the food was very good. It was a good job we weren't in a rush to leave. We gave reception feedback and they deducted the charge for breakfast which was appreciated. They seem understaffed in the morning and I sincerely hope that they can address this issue soon. I have still given the hotel 5 stars because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we thought it was value for money and we would stay again.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise ask for a room overlooking the back of the hotel as the front looks ou...

Thank you for your comments; I am very sorry that you experienced such poor service for breakfast. Unfortunately, we have had a shortage of staff in the Food and Beverage department, however, we can assure you that the matter has now been dealt with and we have new team members on board. I am confident that this is now in hand. I do hope we have the opportunity to restore your faith in us in the future.

Stayed for 2 nights with my wife for a weekend away. Very friendly staff from check in to check out. Rooms clean and well furnished. Great location only a few mins walk to each of the main sights. Did not try the restaurant or breakfast so cannot comment. Seems reasonably priced for Bath. Would recommend.

Stayed here with a group of friends having chosen and booked for 6 of us I was extremely let down by the terrible breakfast service. The first morning we were left standing in a corridor with several other guests whilst we waited to be seated. Could not possible see what the problem was as there were lots of free tables but due to lack of staff they were not being used.Toast, coffee's tea's all came in dribs and drabs and half of us could not be bothered by this stage to order a cooked breakfast which we had already paid for Because of this problem we complained and asked could they arrange for a table for 6 at same time the next day, low and behold next day was even worse. Waited at least 10 minutes to be seated and then at least 15 mins for our cooked breakfast which when it eventually arrived as absolutely delicious. Praise where praise is due the dining room staff were doing the very best they could with a smile under very difficult circumstances, a hotel chain who can treat staff like this do not deserve to keep them.

Having said this attitude of reception staff was appalling, couldn't care less but if they are under the same pressure as the dining staff its hardly surprising.

Rooms were very small, television didn't work but were immaculately clean (top of the class for the cleaning staff). Bed really comfy.

Hotel itself is bang smack in the centre of Bath and couldn't have asked for a better location, also excellent breakfast when it came. Have rated the restaurant as poor, but this is not Blanc restaurant which we didnt eat in but breakfast dining.
