Very good location, just next to the markets, close to the roman baths and park. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast was a la carte and yummy. ordered burger and baked salmon which was absolutely delicious! Room is just the right size and bed is very comfortable. wi-fi is free. Overall we enjoyed our stay here very much. Thank you!

Stayed one night here and noted some big changes since my last visit. Was able to get a space in the hotel car park although there are other options close by. Had a front facing room on the 2nd floor with views over the square. Quite small (but kiv this is a listed building) and no bath. Mitigants were very comfy bed and a decent walk in shower.

Staff were very friendly and service included turning the bed down!

Breakfast next morning excellent. Great buffet of cereal and fresh fruit followed by made to order cooked. Eggs Benedict with salmon recommended.

Located in the heart of Bath within walking distance from well, everywhere -I'd definitely stay here again!!

The first thing that struck me (not literally, but almost) when checking into our 2nd floor room of the Francis Hotel was the low ceilings. I'm 5'11 and standing on tip-toes my head was a couple of inches from the ceiling, so if you're taller than about 6'3 you might want to avoid this place. Taking a shower (the type where you stand in a bath tub) I had to hunch over to avoid my head touching the bathroom ceiling.
Other than that though it was a nice enough hotel. Room was a decent size in the horizontal dimensions, standard wi-fi was free (and fine for web browsing), with the option to pay if you need a high-bandwidth connection). We liked the Roger+Gallet bath products. Location was fine in that we could easily walk everywhere so the car never had to leave the hotel's car park (which was a bonus, because some of the roads in Bath are pretty tricky to negotiate).

Thank you for sending in a review. I’m unsure which room it was that you stayed in as the ceilings in the rooms on the 2nd floor are a standard 8ft 2inch height, however, the ceilings in the rooms on the 3rd floor are slightly lower (not, as you say, for basket ballers!); I do hope this didn’t spoil your stay with us. All the rooms/ bathrooms vary in shape, size and décor – some have baths with showers and others have walk-in showers. I hope you had an enjoyable time in Bath.

Kind regards – John Willcock

We visit Bath on a regular basis and have stayed in four different hotels so far this is by far the best. Its central location (short walk to the best shops) is a plus. I understand it has recently reopened after extensive refurbishment, the decor and attention to detail reflects this and creates a good ambiance. We stayed in a classic room. The bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom facilities good and plenty of hanging space in ward robe. You also have an in room iron and board. The staff were friendly and efficient and helpful in organising taxis and providing advice.

we stayed at the francis hotel before its refurbishment and were really disappointed however this time was great. we were updgraded to a feature room which was lovely for the extra space (and coffee machine!) the rooms are stylishly decorated with fabulous furnishings. The oly disappointment for me was that there wasn;t a bath....just a shower ....for me, part of having a luxury stay away is enjoying a nice bath ( without children knocking on the door!)The girls and gentleman on reception were friendly, efficient and helpful. the hotel is in a fantastic location right in the centre of bath. Highly recommend a visit.

It really is in the centre of Bath everything is a short walk from this well situated Hotel. This is our second visit to this Hotel and won't be our last, excellent helpful staff who are eager to help . The breakfast is rather expensive unless you get an inclusive deal, but loads of eateries close by try the Barton Tea room

Room Tip: The Back is somewhat quieter
