“Found class A drugs in the bathroom”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Generally the hotel is fine. In a good location with decent amenities. However the room was not that clean - there was dust (and some hair) everywhere on shelves, in drawers, on bedside tables, in the bathroom - and the beds were made up in a shoddy way. We also found an ecstasy tablet in the bathroom!

This hotel is ideally placed in central Bath. The staff are very friendly and helpful and uber efficient too. Rooms are spacious and the beds enormous. I can't fault it. There is a pub and both Carluccios and a Jamie Oliver's restaurant across the road. Parking in the near underground carpark is subsidised by the hotel at a cost of £15 and you can stay at the car park even after you have checked out of the hotel. There is a small gym.

Hilton bath city, is not far away from the cathedral, next to waitrose, offered great service throughout our whole stay, especially in the restaurant, there were 9 of us, surprisingly after first night, they get the table set every morning waiting for us. impressed.

The location of this hotel is very central and only a short walk to shops, bars, restaurants and attractions such as Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths etc, so that is a real positive for this hotel, however that didnt justify the price of the hotel!
The other positive factor was that the staff were really friendly and welcoming on reception and in the dining room, and the breakfast was good.
However, on paying £400 for 2 nights in Bath, i was very disappointed in the rooms and compared to other hotels with as good a location, i just would not consider returning to this hotel.
Our room was the the smallest hotel room i have ever stayed in. There was a bed, dressing table with TV on, suitcase rack, and tiny wardrobe. The double bed had perhaps 2ft to the left of it, 3 ft at most to the right, and perhaps 2ft between the bed and the dressing table. There was barely any space to walk around the bed, let alone once you had belongings in the room. The bathroom was ridiculously small and cramped, the door barely opened past the toilet, you couldnt use the sink without shutting the bathroom door, and the shower door again only opened past the toilet by a small margin.
The bed itself was old and creaky, resulting in disturbed nights sleep as everytime you turned over in the night it would wake you up!
The remainder of the hotel is out dated and just doesnt reflect the price paid. Overall, just not worth the price, and not what i would expect from the Hilton brand.

Great location and lovely hotel generally, but be aware that a small glass of white wine cost £7.50 in the hotel bar! much better to visit one of the pubs over the road , which were both great and the Pig and Fiddle was lively and good if you wanted live music. Overall though, a visit to bath is a must and this hotel was within walking distance to everything.

the Hilton in bath was centrally located, which was a big plus. it was a quick walk to the shops, restaurants, and historic sights. and since it backed up against the river, our room had a nice pleasant view. the hotel itself was nice enought, staff was helpful, with a bit of prodding. the breakfast was good, hot and cold options and waitress service were standard. overall we had quite a pleasant stay. the rooms were in good shape, and the restaurant looked like it had been updated fairly recently. i see some of the negative comments here, regarding the architecture. i agree it doesnt really fit in with most of bath which is quite quaint and dates from the 19th century. but i dont think it is something that can be easily rectified at this point. in our minds bath has so much to see and do that the hotel is somewhat besides the point aside from being a place to rest and sleep.

Room Tip: No pool or kids amenities, but location is good. try to get a room facing the river.

Hotel Hilton was a fair choice for wedding guests although for some guests it was expensive for a one night stay. For those who could afford it it was very good. We did not have time to partake in any of the facilities within hotel nor explore the city of Bath for we were attending a family wedding at Priston Mill, some miles away in the country. The breakfast menu was superb with plenty of choice and variety especially for those who like a full breakfast. There was also a good choice for those who are vegetarian. The only downside was the parking. We did not expect to have to pay £15. to park car overnight in the public car park. This made the weekend very expensive especially for pensioners like ourselves. We didn't like that.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay having attended a wedding in the vicinity. I am glad you found our renowned Hilton breakfast to be “superb”, I will pass on your appreciation to the Breakfast Chef. I hope upon your next visit to Bath you will have the opportunity to explore the city centre.
