“Could do better”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

In a nutshell: Great location, you can go anywhere on foot from the hotel. From the outside, the building looks rather ugly, from the inside we liked it a lot. We had a nice de luxe room towards the river, beautiful view. The breakfast room is beautiful, too, views towards the river there as well, nice furniture, dark wood, somehow it gives you the feeling of being somewhere else.
The downsides: breakfast is rather poor, very limited choice, especially for a Hilton. Staff in general is friendly and tries to help, but not very efficient. I suspect they rely too much on trainees. Somehow, everything seems to be rather disorganised, no real communication between staff members. On two days, out of three nights, we had to call reception late afternoon to have our room made - and got excuses why it hadn't been done earlier - like we had had the 'Don't disturb' sign on the door, which was definitely not true.
The gym looked quite complete, but I did not have time to try it out. Wifi is only free of charge in the lobby area - if you are not a Golden or Diamond member - so everybody is hanging around there to check things on the internet.
Inspite of all of that, we liked the hotel and would probably go back if we return to Bath - and if it were a less expensive hotel, I would definitely give it a higher mark - but given the rates this hotel charges I think they could and should do better.

Booked this hotel online, for overnight stay. Hotel very central. Bath is very beautiful old city, pity the hotel does not have a similarly beautiful exterior, but inside is fine. Rooms good, clean, reasonable size. Reception staff very helpful with advice for places to visit when time limited. Breakfast very good, all buffet.
Biggest disappointment was the £15 overnight car parking charge next morning!

It was only £5 more than the budget hotels in Bath and the location is excellent. We had a good stay really. The room was of an ok size and clean. The tv channels were very limited though, they'd be better off letting the guests have a freeview box.

The gym is tiny but it is 24h, it has 2 treadmills, 2 bikes and only a few weights but it was enough.

Not bad overall.

I stayed here for a one night stay with my 16 year old daughter. We arrived late afternoon to a bright, sunny room. Although compact it was clean and comfortable. Staff were obliging and friendly. At breakfast time although busy at no time did we feel rushed. There was a very good selection of hot and cold food. We found it to be a good location for sightseeing and shopping and we had walked from the railway station.

Stayed here on a two-day group break with mates. Although we didn't spend a great deal of time at the hotel (it's difficult to see why you would given you're in Bath), it gave what I'd expect from a brand like Hilton: smart, tidy but not luxury/boutique or different

The rooms were in very good condition, they were clean and tidy, in a quite part of Bath. The breakfasts were good and had a wide selection of quality choices. The staff on front desk were welcoming and polite, they had a bar which stayed open late to guests was reasonably well stocked and priced. Bath is small so it's close to all you'd need including the station and as another reviewer mentioned, it's also close to Waitrose which is a nice bonus.

The only criticism I'd make was that the rooms were a little small but this is probably no different to rooms in similar hotels.

Only stayed for one night, but nice clean and relaxing room, lovely comfortable beds and clean modern bathroom. Very convenient location for exploring the city of Bath. Only complaint is the £15 parking fee.

We stayed for two nights earlier this month-the hotel was in a fantastic location! Easy walk to attractions, with a supermarket next door (Waitrose) that had many choices for a hot/cold lunch which we ate on the public walkway benches behind the hotel, overlooking the river. Our room overlooked the Avon River and had a beautiful view of the surrounding homes/hillside and Pulteney Bridge. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean. Our only complaint with the room was the sofa bed, which was a very small double size bed-which our teenage sons did not fit well on together. The breakfast was in a pretty dining room and had the usual options. We parked in the garage next door, and did not move the car during our stay so it only cost 15 pounds for our 2 days (only pay when you leave the garage). We were able to pull up to the front door of the hotel to let out/pick up passengers/suitcases, and there was a hotel "bellhop" who collected our suitcases and brought them to the room (someone else did not have this experience, so I wanted to mention that we had no trouble with this). Overall, I would stay again whenever I am lucky enough to be back in Bath (a beautiful, historic city), but would look into getting another room for my ever growing sons!

Room Tip: Highly recommend a room with a river view.
