OK, I have reviewed this before, but perhaps it's time to update. There are changes with a new chef (David, bon chance et merci!) coming in and smart paintwork here and there to keep things fresh for the new season. This is a solid enterprise with a welcome neighbourhood vibe that should be ranking higher in the Bath ratings. It is a great place for Sunday lunch (but if you have no kids then go later otherwise you will be swamped by ankle/knee biters), also 'comforting' dishes at other times (OK we don't know the new chef, but like the look of the sample menu). Do please venture a little way and enjoy the warm hospitality and laid-back quality.

We ate here the week before Christmas food was lovely although I don't think it had quite what it did a year ago, in fairness I know there is a different chef and the food tasted really good maybe just not quite the look, but would still eat there again soon

We were recommended to try the special steak night on a Thursday...we were not disappointed. We booked which was just as well as it was packed out. The steaks were excellent. Ambience busy but calm and not intrusive. Gastropub which should become increasingly popular atbtheveastern edge of the city.

Husband and I decided on a quiet a-deux meal at our neighbourhood restaurant One Beaufort last night. We discovered their new chef David had taken on the kitchen and what a meal he produced! We shared a duo spiral of succulent, lightly battered squid with a delicious chilly jelly, followed by two of the best dishes we have eaten anywhere this year. Husband had poussin with a gorgeous rich juice and variety of deep-tasting very French-style additions (lardons, mushrooms, little potatoes) and I had perfectly cooked, satiny Cod with properly crisp skin in a bowl with baby tomatoes, chorizo and a light but deep-tasting broth. Please go discover this informal, friendly dining room just a short way removed from Bath's overcrowded city centre!

We greatly enjoyed our pre-theatre meal. Only had time for one course, but were very impressed by both the poussin and lamb which were inventive and full of flavour. As an unexpected bonus, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are 2 for 1 on main courses, so the meal was terrific value.
Despite it being early evening the place was lively, busy and noisy. We also enjoyed the art work on display, but were not tempted by the accompanying price tags in the £000's!
