“Great spot to stay”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Great location across the bridge from central Bath. Free parking and a really short walk to everything you need to see. Room was beautifully decorated, clean, and well-appointed. We were the first room right past the front desk, so I was skeptical at first it might be noisy, but it was very quiet. Having a fan was also very nice - those older buildings can be quite stuffy, but this was not the case. Breakfast was great (yay - espresso!). The owners are very nice and helpful. The room key had a discount card attached that saved us a few pounds here and there. Unexpected bonus. Would recommend this place and stay there again.

We only stayed one night and had a lovely time, the room was very clean (loved the Molton Brown toiletries), excellent location, free parking and amazing breakfast.

Only slight negative is that it is an old house, therefore floors creek, nothing can be done about that, but it is worth noting. However, don't let that put you off, a really warm welcome and excellent location (did I mention that??!!).

Will be back for sure.

Mary & Giovanni were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely and comfortable,we wanted for nothing. The breakfast was outstanding,it set us up for the day. Also worth mentioning the beautiful gardens and the fact that we were in walking distance for everything. If ever we came back to Bath we would definitely stay here again.

This is one of those cases where you want to keep quiet for fear of never getting back in!

The Kennard is a townhouse hotel in a quiet Bath side street, but which is literally round the corner from the famous Pulteney Bridge - you could not be more central with shops, attractions and amenities a short walk away. There are more local restaurants than you could ever need as well, and the hotel happily provides recommendations. The building itself is striking, but the rooms are decorated in period style.

The rooms are lovely, comfortable, with big sash windows. They also have just about anything you could hope for. Far more than many luxury hotels I have stayed in. There is even mineral water, great for those of us who don't do tea or coffee.

No mention of breakfast so far. Well, I am going to say it is probably the best breakfast I have eaten anywhere. Yes, that good.

And don't miss the garden!

Room Tip: The two singles don't have en suite showers, but the shared one provided is excellent.

My husband and I stayed overnight in a superior double room. This was excellent with many period features and a genuine sense of luxury. The 5' walk into Bath meant the car was not needed so the free parking permit was a real bonus.

The garden was a late afternoon delight and provided a welcome retreat from the all day shopping. It was also a good opportunity to browse the collection of restaurant menus - a really useful guide. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and their flexibiity looking after bags etc meant the one night was in practice a two day trip. Many have mentioned the breakfast which exceeds the advance publicity. The flavours were outstanding, reflecting the quality of the ingredients used and a great atmosphere.

Some have written that the hotel is expensive - I disagree. You pay a fair price for a very high standard of accomodation, service, food and a great location. The better rooms are well worth the extra cost.

If you are looking for a 'dormity' - go elsewhere. If you want to be pampered but still have the flexibility to explore Bath's restaurants, it is ideal.

Room Tip: The superior doubles are much larger and more luxurious

We stayed one night. We were made to feel very special. Advice was offered in a quiet non pushy way but you knew nothing was too much trouble. Ambience and decor were perfect for the amazing Georgian setting of Bath. Room at the top of the house was small but very acceptable with wonderful sun drenched reflections off the Bath stone houses. Breakfast was a delectable array, displayed and served with a quiet efficiency, again we felt nothing was too much trouble for our delightful hostess. Highly recommended. As for us regular visitors to Bath , we will certainly return to this haven of perfection!
Our only recommendation would be a little background gentle music in the dining room to fill the silence! Thank you for a special stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the Kennard. Hosts very helpful, hotel has bags of charm and character. A delicious breakfast served in a lovely breakfast room, great choice of teas, coffees, condiments. The £100 per night charge for the two of us b&b is very fair for Bath. Overall I would definitely return and can't wait to visit again.

Room Tip: Room at the top of the hotel a touch small but didn't bother us really.
