The property lived up to the expectations of reviews I had seen on the WEB. Very nice, clean room, very comfortable. Not overlay large by any means, but a traditional European type room. Car parking pass was quite a nice benefit. Just around the block walking and you were in the heart of Bath.. right at the Roman Bath and Abbey. The couple that runs the Kennard are very helpful and almost feel like you're staying with family.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the street would likely be a little quiter, but was not bad even on the road side.

Beautifully presented hotel with good sized, clean and comfortable bedrooms and ensuite. All areas in the hotal were bright and comfortable with attention to detail which made the stay wonderful. Excellent hosts happy to advise and give endless directions to attractions and restaurants. Breakfast was fabulous, plentiful and a wide variety. Have never stayed in such a fantastic independant hotel, I could have stayed a week!!

Room Tip: Even rooms at front are quiet. If you want the triple room, it's 63 steps from the breakfast roo...

Lovingly and tastefully maintained with plenty of style. Very convenient for exploring Bath. Fabulous breakfast with top notch ingredients sourced locally/organically. Giovanni and Mary are great fun and work hard to make sure everyone's visit is special.

Only one very minor negative: the mattress in our room could do with an upgrade in the not too distant future.

Stayed one night at The Kennard and enjoyed it thoroughly. The breakfast was fantastic, really top notch. High quality, local, and organic ingredients. Lovely hosts, so gracious. The room, all the way at the top floor, was small but well-decorated. The bathroom was clean and the shower very strong water pressure, which was a welcome rarity. Walking distance to many of the sites and to pubs & restuarants. Definitely go to the Bath Spa if you have the time too.

Stayed 25th March for my girlfriend's birthday and booked last minute, based on other TA reviews.
On arrival I noticed the sign stating "sorry, no vacancies" which was reassuring.
Giovanni (the owner) came outside to my vehicle, took all of our bags and issued a parking permit to park nearby.
On check-in, Giovanni offered assistance with restaurant bookings and again assisted us with our bags to our room. There are many stairs to the top floor, however it did offer good views of the city.
We were provided with a key for night-time access and the hotel was quiet without any disturbance.
The breakfast laid on by Giovanni was fantastic, a great selection of cereals, english cooked breakfast, breads, teas, coffee amongst other things.
After breakfast, Giovanni surprised my girlfriend with a chocolate cake and got me to sing happy birthday for her, a gesture you would not receive at a hotel chain.
He did not rush us to check out and then offered that we could keep the parking permit for the rest of the day and return it before we left the city.
The hotel is well placed to the city centre just a few minutes walk away.
I would definitely return here again and wish more hoteliers were as hospitable as Giovanni

We had a wonderful week in Bath staying at this hotel. The owners were very welcoming and helpful without being overbearing. The location of the hotel was great as it was central enough to be in easy walking distance of all amenities and yet it was quiet and peaceful too. Our room although quite small had everything that we needed and the standard of cleanliness was extremely high. The breakfast was just superb; the tables were beautifully laid with a great attention to detail; the cooked breakfast was top notch; and there was an excellent selection of other breakfast items as well as teas and coffees. It was obvious the owners try extremely hard to ensure high standards are maintained. We would definitely stay here again.
On a cautionary note there are a lot of steps in this property (up to bedrooms and down to breakfast room) I did not notice a lift - my disabled father would have found this very difficult.

I booked this hotel purely on the reviews from others on TA. Whilst I wouldn't say I was disappointed, it wasn't all that I expected. The hotel owners were lovely, very helpful and kind, allowing us to stay parked with their permit all day (after we had checked out) breakfast too was fab with a huge selection of teas and coffees, but our room less so. It was a small room, with a small bathroom, the sink was seperate from the bathroom underneath the TV. The bed was on the small side and a little uncomfortable. Saying this, we had booked last minute and perhaps this is why the room was left till last. I would definitly return to Bath and stay somewhere near the Kennard because of its very central location.
