“Good, Clean and Friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2010

We had a very nice stay for two nights. After arriving around noon our room on the ground floor was ready and we allowed to check in early.
We were given a brief but detailed explanation on our location and how to reach the town centre and other attractions.
Our room was spacious, clean and quiet, despite being on the ground floor, with lots of hot water for our baths and showers. Good quality towels and White Company toiletries.
The honesty bar was very reasonably priced with a good selection of drinks.
Breakfast was busy (as the house was full) but very pleasant with good quality cereals, preserves and pastries.
Cooked items again used good quality ingredients, especially the Black Puddings!
The manager could not do enough for us and was helpful when ever we met him, like wise the girls working in the evenings were only too pleased to offer assistance with local knowledge and restaurants shopping recommendations.
The car park is steep but allows you to leave your car in a safe place and walk into town or use the bus which stops close by.
The lounge has lots of local restaurant menu’s available and a PC with internet access.
There is also Wi Fi throughout the house.
Would have no hesitation in staying there again, which is something we seldom do.

This was our 4th time back to Dorian House and the first time that we had been since Robert and Lize had taken over as managers. We had a lovely two night stay - from Robert greeting us so warmly after our long drive to being taken to our room. We normally stay in Tallis but as this had already been booked by someone else we opted for Du Pre - a really great four poster room with well equipped bathroom and fab television with loads of channels. The only downside to the room is even though it has its own private staircase, you are opposite the front door to the house and I was woken both mornings to the doorbell ringing and the door being shut rather loudly.

The breakfasts were as good as they have ever been, good selection on the buffet table, yummy cooked breakfast made to order, the coffee could have been stronger!

We will be back again soon as it is our favourite place to stay in Bath.

We wish Robert and Lize much luck with their new baby due in the next couple of weeks and we hope you have settled in to your new garden home.

Friendly and helpful. Staff go out of their way to assist. Pleasant rooms and good breakfast. 10 minutes from centre of Bath (though uphill walk on the way back!). Off street car parking available which is useful in this area (though a little awkward to access because steep). Unusual extra is that I was given a free CD of the some of the celllist owner's recordings.

Breakfast was great, lovely choice, fruit, cereals, full english etc. Hotel was clean and tidy, only problem was the room that we stayed in-called Solomon, a double, with slanting ceilings (as its an attic room), which inevitably led to bumps on the head! There was also no wardrobe/drawers to put your clothes in-there was a make shift rack with hangers on, so we ended up living out of our suitecases. The room size is really more suitable as a single.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful, suggesting places to eat out etc.
The car park is very steep and a little tricky to park in.
However on the whole, a suprisingly nice guest house compared to many in the UK.

We stayed for 3 nights at Dorian House for a Valentines break. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a lovely and immaculate queensize room. The decor was fresh and relaxing, although my only criticism would be that there is not alot of wardrobe hanging space. The service we recieved was excellent and highly efficient, we were made to feel very welcome and the full english breakfast was cooked to perfection.

After a long journey to Bath my partner and I were looking forward to a nice afternoon rest before going out that evening, unfortunately the manager seemed to be entertaing a couple a couple of friends who had children and a baby, this seemed slightly unprofessional in what is advertised as a 5 star guest house. The hotel appart from this was lovely, but i dont think we will be returning.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2009

It is our second visit to Dorian House - we last visited in 2005 - and we were not disappointed. In fact we felt it had improved since then although the standards then were excellent. The welcome was very warm and we felt that nothing was too much trouble for Robin and the team. Our room, Gershwin, was clean and tidy although the shower was intend on washing the room as well as us! Still we were clean! Breakfast was delicious - lots of cereals, condiments, pastries and all the cooked breakfasts appeared to be fresh which makes a huge changed from the buffet meals at large chains. During our stay it snowed and the driveway was salted and gritted, the owner even arrived to check all was well. On leaving we were given a CD of the music played in the house.

Whilst the location is outside of Bath, don't let this put you off. The walk really is just 10 minutes downhill and there are no shortage of buses (even on a Sunday night) back up the hill.

We would throughly recommend this gorgeous B&B to anyone. Value wise, yes it is at the more expensive end of the scale but feel that this is worth it as everyone went the extra mile.
