I cannot believe that the writers of the previous detrimental reviews stayed at the same place as we did this week. We found Peter the manager to be helpful and professional. The bed in the Tallis room was very comfortable, the towels were the thickest white ones I had ever used, the water was hot, the breakfasts were the best I have experienced in any establishment. From our room you could see the Royal Crescent.I would not hesitate to reccommend Dorian House to anyone.

We arrived at the Dorian House much later than we had expected, after 11:00, but there was still someone there to let us in and show us to our room. Our room was huge, especially by European standards, and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious, and the full English breakfast was more food than I could handle. It took us about 10-15 minutes to walk into the centre of Bath, and we didn't find the walk back up the hill very difficult. We really appreciated being able to leave our car parked at the hotel while we spent the day exploring the city, even though we'd already checked out.

  • Liked — Our spacious and comfortable room.
  • Disliked — Construction made parking tricky.

My partner and I have just returned from a lovely stay at Dorian House. We opted for one of the smaller rooms and it was great value for money. The room was spotlessly clean.
The decor was fab, a mix of clean white linen and vintage furniture.
Dorian House has an individual feel that makes it special.
We had a front view and you could see the Royal Crescent in the distance.
The management was great- Peter was around if you needed anything or had had any questions to ask but he was considerate of personal space.
Breakfast was good- might be better if there were more vegetarian cooked options and was available until 10am.
The walk up the hill was delightful, it's not far at all and good to get the exercise. There are lots of nice houses to appreciate along the way.
On our last morning we were given a CD of music, a lovely gift.

  • Liked — Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere

Only in Bath for a short stay, we wanted to find somewhere special, we certainly found it...

Only a short walk from the city center of Bath, Dorian House was perfect. Friendliness of all the staff was fantastic, breakfast was excellent, and the room we stayed in was amazing, very comfortable bed, great views over Bath and into the back garden. We would definitely stay here again. Maybe next time for a bit longer.

Just spent 2 nights at the Dorian House hotel. We stayed a night each in the Grieg room and the Tallis room. Each room was lovely, spacious and had great views, especially the Tallis room where you can see the Crescent as well as the rest of Bath. The Tallis is slightly larger but each room is clean, fresh with nice freebies in the bathroom (white company). Waffle dressing gowns and chocolates on the bed topped it off.
The actual hotel is quite grand with a nice drawing room with internet access. Breakfast is great with a varied choice. The full english and the smoked salmon with scrambled egg is the best I have tasted in a hotel.
It is just a 10min walk down a hill to the town centre.
Will definately recommend this hotel to family and friends.

We stayed in the Dorian for two nights in August in the room called 'Casals' (Pablo Casals, a Spanish Catalan cellist) and it was the best room we've ever stayed in.

Our room consisted of a fireplace, antique furniture, a four-poster bed, a bath tub + shower and a lovely selection of complimentary toiletries. Everything was spot on even the loveley neutral colours on the walls.

The breakfast room was nice and bright and always full and they offer fresh juice, water, coffee and tea as well as a selection of toast (white or brown or mixed). They also have the obligatory Full English. I had a fantastic muffin with smoked salmon and scrambled egg on top. Hmmmm. What's even better about it: they make it all fresh, nothing sits in the fridge waiting to be ordered.

Oh, and if you like classical music then you'll like it even more in the Dorian because they play it all day long and it's beautiful. :)

I stayed in Dorian House for a couple of nights in April. The bedrooms and common areas of the house (breakfast room, lounge, gardens etc) were beautifully decorated and comfortable. Good breakfast and we were often the last to arrive for breakfast and not made to feel unwelcome for this. My main complaint is that on arrival we noticed from the information supplied in the rooms that we could order wine to have in the room and called the manager to organise this. The room information listed Cava at arround £14 a bottle which was very reasonable, however I was told that none was available and instead offered a New Zealand fizzy for £25 which was the cheapest on offer. We went with this and were very dissapointed when a bottle of Lindauer arrived which retails for about £6 in the majestic down the road from the B&B. I felt that this was an unacceptable mark-up, even more so when we were actually charged £30 for it on checking-out. The manager is not someone who I felt comfortable challenging the matter of £5.
