Owner description: Designed by John Wood II (1767-75), the Royal Crescent is comprised of thirty houses, shaped like a half-Colosseum, which uses a gigantic series of Ionic columns on high bases.

The Crescent is a row of houses built in a semi-circular fasion. It overlooks open green areas and is a favourite haunt of the Bath locals- lots were sunbathing in the hot July sun. The Crescent is pleasing to the eye and is worth a peek if you have some time to kill in Bath and have exhausted the must see items such as the Abbey and the Roman Baths. It is about 15 min walk from the City Centre

The Royal Crescent is a bit run down looking. It;'s fine to drive by but I wouldn't get out or stop. It looks a bit sad.

This iconic location is simply stunning; we loved the massive expanse of grass in front of the crescent; the hotel in the middle where you can go in and have morning coffee, and the museum on the end which has seen a dilapidated house restored to its former glory. Excellent stuff!

This monumental building always takes my breath away, despite the number of tourists gawping at the sheer size of it. It's well worth the short walk up from Gay or Milsom Streets.
