Owner description: One of only three bridges in the world lined with shops, this exquisite 18th-century bridge is one of the most admired structures in Bath.

You can be forgiven for not actually realising you are on this bridge unless you are familiar with your surroundings; the fact that there are shops on both sides means that you can drive or walk across it without actually realising you are crossing the river. Best seen from the river but the upstream side is quite neglected, which seems a shame!

We walked along this bridge as part of two hour free Bath walk and we will be returning. The desserts in the bakery store looked delicious.

We thoroughly enjoyed wandering in the shops on the bridge and getting a feel for the local population as well as the visitors.

do the boat trip and bus trip and see the bridge from different angles..... you may not wish to visit the shops that "overhang" at the back of the store...

This was pretty much the first thing we saw in Bath over the Avon river.

Nice to stroll along the river towards the Pulteney Bridge, but the best thing was the pastry/sweet shop on the actual bridge itself. Had a raspberry tart from one of the shops which was so tasty!

There's also a nice garden just in front of the bridge, but you have to pay to go in, which I thought was a bit stiff.

If you walk across the bridge to the opposite side to where the main city centre is, there's nice places to sit, get some food and it's free, with the same view of the bridge and Avon river!
