We paid £116 to stay one night in this very poor hotel.
Very rundown, wallpaper and paint peeling from walls, tear in the bedroom carpet constituted a health and safety hazzard, and the bedside chair was so stained we preferred not to use it. The biggest dimension in our double room was from floor to ceiling!
Furniture was in such a state that you couldn't give it away.
A few days earlier we had stayed at a Cambridge Travel Lodge hotel in a much bigger room with better facilities for less than a third of the price.

This hotel could not be in a better location. If you walk to the end of the street you can see the train station, Bath Wells, Sally Lunn's and the Thermae Spa are all about a 2 minute walk. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and could not be more helpful. Bath is a beautiful city to visit and this hotel just made everything so easy. I understand it is being refurbished in September to make it a 4 star hotel so you may want to book sooner rather than later.

This is a historic building that has been a hotel for more than a century. It has a great location and although there is no parking available, apart from a public car park, it is only about 200 yards from the railway station.
Having read some of the other reports I was concerned about what we would find. I need not have worried.
The room was fine, comfortable bed, good over-bath shower, TV and Internet worked well, room was clean. Ok, some of the wallpaper was slightly peeling at the joins and the towels were not fluffy-new. But the room was fine for the amount of time that we were to spend in it.
The furniture was in character with the age of the building. We sat in the lounge one evening for coffee and were very comfortable.
The staff were friendly and helpful. A request for coffee one evening was delivered almost immediately. The breakfast was very good and the staff attentive.
Decoratively the hotel could do with a lick of paint but other than that I had no complaints.
There are, of course, lots of hotels in Bath to choose from but I would be happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a room on a "between floor" it looked over the back of the building so there was no...

We were a bit dubious after reading all the poor reviews but we found the hotel ok . Yes it needs some TLC but we liked it . We only booked a room for 2 nights but i would go back . great location ,Staff friendly . Bed was clean as was bathroom . Good nights sleep. Yes it needs a lick of paint but thats about all its got its own character.Maybe need to sort some parking passes as £25 for 2 days is a bit steep. Nice cellar bar next door

Room Tip: Room 110 at the front . Dated but nice

We visited using a groupon voucher if B&b and a voucher for the bath thermae spa.
Staff were friendly . The room was comfortable .

As with many accomodation choices in bath, the hotel does not have a car park necessitating £12.50 per day in the manvers car park

Rooms that are exactly what they say on the tin. I'll not run this place down as the building is graded and you can only work with what you have. The rooms are comfortable and equips with the basics you'd expect. It's no plaza but the location is excellent and you get what you pay for. If you're looking for something a bit more special and upmarket check in next door at the halcyon, but be prepared to pay for it.
