We went here for a coffee in the lounge to get away from the manicness that is Bath Christmas markets. We had a very nice time and whilst it is not cheap we found that the coffee and biscuits were great, the atmosphere was suitably festive and the service was outstanding. It really helped to make us feel festive and we would totally recommend this.

For a Five Star Hotel this was disappointing. Firstly welcome at reception was poor. Bedroom was cold & draughty, but otherwise facilities in room were good. Dinner - we had to wait 45 minutes from ordering main course to having it served. There were more staff than guest, so no excuse for service. Breafast Buffet on first day was poor many dishes were empty. Hot food was brought before you had a chance finish your cereal.

Very comfortable hotel with pleasant rooms, good beds, comfortable bathrooms and above all the friendliest and most competent staff I have come across. Also the spa is brilliant with indoors and outdoor heated pools and a great choice of saunas and steam rooms. Sure, the location is not bang in the town centre but it is a comfortable 15 minutes walk only and very easily managed though hotel staff is very attentive and always at hand to arrange taxis should you want one. Found the breakfast buffet truly excellent whereas the cooked breakfast was average only. In my opinion the hotel facilities are in top condition and I can unreservedly recommend the excellent and professional staff as the best hotel staff ever. Would be delighted to stay here again.

I recently visited this establishment for a pre- Christmas do. The venue is very impressive and looks all that you would expect a five star hotel in Bath to be.
While waiting to be called into the room where our food would be served most of the group went for a quick drink at the bar. This is where the first disappointment occurred: the bar prices are excessive, even by London 5* standards,- though not 'through the ceiling', they are never the less excessive. My thoughts were reinforced/confirmed when a number of other guests, including some seasoned travellers, spontaneously voiced a similar opinion.
The food started with an excellent soup and as it was a one choice set menu the next Christmas course was Turkey. Great, I like Turkey.......but not dry due to over cooking .......come on guys, 5* star?
So all-in-all, not bad, but I not unreasonably expected a much better experience from a 5* establishment, given the price etc.
Hopefully this will be taken on board as truthful constructive observations worthy of reflection and change.

We were attending a school function at our daughters school and decided to change from the Royal Crescent; good location, room good and service from front desk and concierge good; bar poor. Spa had a good selection of rooms for sauna and steam etc but the salt room was out of action.

I spent a long weekend at this hotel in late November, and stayed in a skyline room. As the name suggests this category of room is on the top floor with a good view of the city centre, especially good at this time of year as it gets dark early and one can see the city centre lit up.
I believe the hotel was refurbished just over ten years ago, and unfortunately in some areas it is starting to look a little tired, especially in the bathroom. However, what makes this hotel so good is the staff, and the food. Every employee we encountered engaged us in conversation, and nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and had two delicious meals, along with fantastic breakfasts. My wife and I used the spa facilities, both having massages, which were very good.

Room Tip: Top floor for a view of the city

We stayed for a long weekend at the end of November. The hotel is in a great location, just out of town, a short walk to all the sights of Bath. We stayed in the Imperial Suites which are away from the main hotel and we were well looked after by Jeremy and Ra our two butlers! The spa facilities are excellent and use is included in the the price. Being a spa, it is beyond me why local ladies think it is good place to bring their toddlers in for a swim on a Sunday morning, it is also a bit surprising that the Hotel allows this but I guess they need to get as many members as possible. We ate in the Hotel restaurant on the Friday night and the meal was excellent - expect fairly top end prices but certainly worth the money. Our only disappointment was breakfast - the food was fine but the service was simply atrocious - we had to constantly ask for everything, there was loads of staff but no organisation. It was a real shame as everything else was perfect.
