“A perfect choice for our wedding reception”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

We chose the venue for our small wedding reception and found the staff to be friendly, competent and attentive. The building and grounds are beautiful.

As we arrived we were impressed with the efficiency/professionalism of the staff. It was evident, as the bride arrived she was sheltered from the drizzle with an umbrella, and throughout efforts were made to ensure our every need was catered for.

My Mother mentioned that after she was shown the restroom someone asked whether she could wait to guide her back to our party. We were also accompanied into the garden with advice on where to shoot photos.

Later on a sound system was set up although we had not arranged it beforehand and we cleared away the table for some dancing (Chuck Berry's 'You never can tell' went down a treat).

The bridal suite was very nice and the spa was very enjoyable. The outdoor heated pool was a particular favourite with jets and bubbles it certainly relaxed us in the morning as we unwound.

I would not just recommend that you use this hotel for your wedding but strongly urge you to do so, it is excellent.

We stayed two nights at this hotel. It has a decaying grandeur about it. The air conditioning is not great and the lift is very slow, but I gave it 5 stars. The reason was that it was the most helpful and friendliest hotel we have stayed at in the UK. I tend to judge hotels by the staff and this was outstanding. In addition while the dining room was a bit of a gaunt barn, the food they served was the best we had on our holiday. I definitely recommend it.

During our visit to bath, we decided to sleep in this place, the room was big and nice confrotable addition, the staff who greeted us was nice my family enjoyed the visit, the better the situation where we slept, there was no need to catch a taxi or bus to move to the sites.

Came here for afternoon tea. This was peaceful place to have afternoon tea. The gardens were lovely and the staff were accommodating. It was also reasonably priced too. All round good choice for afternoon tea. PS the carrot cake was the best

Wonderful location with delightful walk into the city through Sydney Gardens and up beautiful Pulteney St. The staff were very attentive and charming but the restaurant, in particular, was understaffed. The head waiter was working flat out to look after everyone. Quite a lot of waiting in a large and chilly room. The portions were small and there were too many price supplements and extras. The breakfast 'buffet' was not up to standard and looked pathetic in such a grand setting. The coffee was poor. Many B&Bs would offer better.
The spa was great, relaxing and welcoming.
Our room was lovely and very comfortable. A new 5 star hotel opens in Bath soon, so the Bath Spa Hotel had better get some essentials in order eg breakfast buffet. Many B&Bs are ahead of the game.

Impressive lobby and crisp service made a great first impression. Great location and an easy walk through a beautiful park to get to town and sites. Unfortunately our third floor room was grim and dated with a very uncomfortable bed, the mattress was clearly shot. Bathroom was better and our friends on the garden level had a much nicer room than our's on the third floor. A lot of charges that add up on check out but food was fair to good and staff was helpful, letting us eat from the room service menu and delivering the food to us in the common area. I would stay again if I could get one of the nicer garden level rooms.
