We knew from the moment we booked about 3 months ago, we had made the right decision! We booked direct, speaking to Roman and as a group of 6 travelling together, he explained the layout of the premises and helped us selected the best rooms for our party.

When we arrived we were met by the ever friendly and helpful, Roman and Carol who stored our bags as we were well before check in time and provided us with maps, directions and restaurant recommendations.

Owners Chris & Carol are excellent hosts and set high standards for their staff who are all helpful and friendly. Rooms were all tastefully furnished and certainly exceeded a 3 star and were spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. Breakfasts were excellent, all freshly prepared with plenty of choice.

We were very fortunate that the weather was roasting when we were in Bath so we were also able to use the hotel gardens and were generously treated to a bottle of bubbly by Carol and Chris.

Bath is a lovely City with loads to offer and we particularly enjoyed the thermae spa, the roof top pool is stunning but the steam rooms are slightly disappointing! This is a brilliant hotel, perfectly located and we would highly recommend it. Look no further and just book it!!

This is the first time we had stayed at Dukes and now would not think about looking for anywhere else. It is run by the owner and very much personally run, all the personnel are charming and sincere not just nice! Our room was perfect nice view, nice size comfortable bed, water in the room, bathroom excellent especially the shower. Breakfast could not have been better with a lovely appetising display of a buffet with everything you could want, all beautifully presented not just the usual packets of this and that, Muesli you could spoon out along with a home made fruit compote, Greek style yoghurt, dried fruits and more, the cooked choices were amazing and beautifully executed, all of this in a cheerful and elegant room on the lower ground floor with its huge windows giving it light and cheeriness. A lovely stay indeed and look forward to the next time.

Room Tip: Although one side of the hotel looks out over the road, it is still quiet as the road is not at all...

Thank you for the very thoughtful and considerate review. We would like for nothing more than our guests to enjoy a ‘lovely stay’. The location of Dukes within two marvellous Georgian townhouses on Great Pulteney Street is a tremendous advantage. I am pleased that you so clearly feel that we have succeeded in many other areas. Thank you.

We were given a very warm welcome and we were treated very well during our short stay.

We stayed in Bath to celebrate our 20th anniversary, which was not missed by our hosts and they kindly surprised us with bottle of bubbly in our room.

The accommodation was fabulous and very big, with a separate sitting room from the bedroom. The bed was big and extremely comfortable, so all and all an excellent experience.

If you are looking for a hotel which is not a generic plastic palace, with a very good location, then give The Dukes Hotel a try, you will not be disappointed.

Beautifully appointed hotel - minutes walk to central Bath and the Bridge. We stayed for the weekend to attend a wedding and it was a perfect treat. Mike gave us a very warm friendly welcome and it wasn't a problem that we had arrived early for check in- our bags were stored safely and we had a parking permit sorted so we could wander off. The room was on the top floor with lovely views of the church and hills beyond- for a top floor room it was spacious and plenty of storage space-very comfortable and good value. The bed was enormous and we slept really well it was hard to wake up in time for breakfast. I appreciated the fan in the room for a very hot summer this year. Breakfast was superb both continental and cooked were generous and lots of options like smoked haddock. I really couldn't fault this place it made our stay pleasurable and wouldn't hesitate to come back in future.

Room Tip: If you have a husband over 6ft 3 ask for a bed without a footboard - we stayed in Roxborough room an...

Thank you for your review. Mike and all of the team take great pleasure in welcoming guests and presenting Dukes at her very best. The Roxburghe is indeed a super room, somewhat tucked away up in the mansard, at the top of these marvellous Georgian townhouses. Very pleased to hear that you ‘really couldn’t fault the place’ and that you would not hesitate to ‘come back in future’. With thanks

We chose Dukes partly because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor. We arrived at mid-day and found a warm welcome before setting out for an afternoon tour in the region. The lodging cost is above average, but it got us a large, clean, comfortable room with good amenities and lots of character. A short walk to the Pulteney Bridge, as advertised, and you're in the centre of the great city of Bath. Friendly service from the clerks, who were happy to reserve restaurant tables for us, and from the server who brought us our excellent breakfasts on two mornings. The owner/manager, Carol, had only purchased the hotel eight months previously, and the work involved with a large property built in the 1700s can only be imagined. But she has put together a great team, and is cheerful and energetic and helpful. A great experience for two Canadian travellers.

Room Tip: We chose a superior double, and it was worth the upgrade.

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. Our location on Great Pulteney Street is unique and affords guests a wonderful, living insight into the workings of two, 200 year old Georgian townhouses. We benefit from a very happy team of professionals, all of whom have a deep appreciation for Bath and seek to present Dukes at her very best. With thanks.

Friendly warm service. Beautiful location. Could not fault this hotel. Stayed in the Beaufort suite. Very grand. We would highly recommend this hotel. The bed was softer than I am used to, however this was due to particular taste and not a criticism of the hotel
