“Superb, apart from the lack of tea & coffee”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

This hotel is a gem. The room we had was gorgeous, being a good size, with a large comfortable bed and a bathroom which was lovely. The cleanliness in the room was A1, and having bottled water and a good size tv in the room was nice. Free shoe cleaning is a nice touch and the valet parking proved invaluable during our stay. It was a shame that there is no wifi in the rooms, but I understand that this is due to be sorted soon, so no problem there.
We did feel that the breakfast could have been better - the buffet would have been improved with a greater selection, especially better fruit - what about some strawberries, melon etc, rather than a fruit bowl and dried fruit? The cooked breakfast portions though good quality were mean in size. Americans who are used to big portions will be very disappointed.
However, the one real disappointment for us is the lack of tea and coffee in the rooms, Yes, there is some during the day in the communal lounge downstairs. But that is not "everyones cup of tea". If you want a hot drink after 5.30pm your only option is room service at £4.25 a drink. So, if you want a evening drink, an early morning drink, you will have an expensive time. This seems cheeky considering the price of the rooms is not cheap. This has been mentioned time and time again in previous reviews and the hotel seems unwilling to address it; this really is at odds with everything else about the hotel, as staff and management seem so keen to please in every other way.

Room Tip: Though room 30 is a bit of a trek, it is very quiet and away from it all.

Dear Sam 2551

I am delighted that you enjoyed your recent visit to The Queensberry.

I am keen to address the point that you and other reviewers raise regarding the provision of tea and coffee facilities in the bedrooms. Rather than being at odds with the overall ethos of The Queensberry, the decision not to place hospitality trays in bedrooms is a considered decision coming from our commitment to quality.

Given our location within four beautiful Georgian terraced buildings, The Queensberry is a very unique and characterful hotel. It is clear that our guests appreciate the effort that we took in the individual design of every room in the hotel. However the difficulty of working within the various rooms to make sure that we show these beautiful Georgian townhouses in their true grandeur meant that it was not possible to fit every room with the standard cabinet furniture that would be suitable to house tea and coffee facilities. Providing a kettle in a room that you have to fill from a bath tap and then plug in on the floor seems to us to be wrong and is not in keeping with The Queensberry service. Additionally, in our opinion, tea and coffee from instant sachets and cartons of UHT milk does not provide a quality experience or an exceptional cup of tea or coffee.

Instead we offer very carefully selected, highest quality tea from the artisan tea specialists Teapigs (there is a variety of 7 varieties of tea to choose from) and freshly brewed coffee, at no charge, in the drawing room throughout the day that guests can help themselves to, and take to their rooms if they wish. This complimentary service is now available from 8am – 8pm. Alternatively, for a modest charge, fresh tea and coffee and homemade biscuits will be swiftly brought to your room at any time of day or night.

I do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Queensberry in the not too distant future.

Yours sincerely

Lauren McCann

Convenient and well presented boutique hotel. Booked 4 rooms, all very good. Good size room with large comfortable double bed. Extremely helpful and pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend and stay there again. Very convenient valet parking.

I have just returned from another fantastic stay at the Queensberry. It is definitely the Best Hotel in Bath. The only thing that would make it better would be that Breakfast is included. The staff are all helpful and I love the chocolates in the room . Well done. We will be back again

We had a generally good experience here though two complaints about there being no heating in room 31 did not receive any response. We were moved to a twin room at our request ( thank you) and that was on the hot side. The first morning there was a very loud business meeting next to the breakfast room, which was not very relaxing. The cooked breakfast took a long time to come, but was quicker on the following day. The staff did turn down the music at my request. (Thankyou). Why do hotels assume you want music for breakfast? None of my group like it.
Also think their policy of not having a tea station in the room a mistake. Tea and coffee is available in the lounge, but we brought our own kettle, having been warned, as did others in our party. We need an early morning cup of tea, or two.
Otherwise we were comfortable. Staff amenable. The parking seems to work OK. A few small tweaks would make it excellent.

Room Tip: Check the heating is working.

We stayed at the Queensberry for our 1st wedding anniversary and overall we enjoyed our stay. It's a quirky old building, which is also a bit of a maze, which adds to its charm. We appreciated the decor of the hotel and its rooms.

We had a lovely big room, which was very comfortable and we also enjoyed the prosecco and box of chocolates in the room on our arrival. We enjoyed the complimentary continental breakfast provided, although it costs extra for a cooked breakfast. We also enjoyed an evening meal in the Olive Tree restaurant and particularly enjoyed the wines that were selected to go with out food by the maitre d'. Prior to our meal, we sampled a cocktail from the hotel bar, which was very nice, but there was no one else there, so I felt it was lacking in any atmosphere.

Despite the things that we admired about the hotel, including the friendly & helpful staff and the valet service, there felt like something special missing, considering the price you pay for a room. It would be nice if their tea and coffee facilities were made available in the rooms. We had a room facing the street and you needed to pull the blind down when you went to the loo, so that people in the opposing buildings didn't need to watch your business! Because of the hotels excellent location to the centre of Bath also means that late night revellers can be heard on their way back home after their night out.

Overall, a nice stay, but for the price paid, I would be tempted to try somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that isn't street facing!

We stayed at the Queensberry on the strength of Trip advisor ratings and were'nt disappointed. The room was faultless. Supremely comfortable executive room with everything we required and the best darn shower I've EVER had! We ate at the hotel too and I actually joked about the portion size of my dinner when it arrived, BUT it tasted amazing. And, actually, although I mocked the size of the portion, it was quite sufficient. There are no tea-making facilities in the room and that is slightly irritating but there is a lounge that serves drinks pretty much the whole day so it's not such an issue. In short, a nice hotel with good rooms and very tasty food.

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. We had a junior suite which was very spacious,it fronted the street but was still quiet at night.
The small hotel bar is intimate, and the restaurant was fabulous. We had one of the best meals of our trip here!
The staff were also great, always willing to please.
We loved Bath & loved this hotel
