Owner description: The Jane Austen Centre features a permanent exhibition that tells the story of Bath's most famous resident, the author Jane Austen. It explores the effect that living in the Georgian city had on her life and writing. There is a delightful Giftshop on the ground floor, which sells unique items bespoke to the Jane Austen Centre, and a delicious Regency Tea Room on the 2nd floor, which offers 17 varieties of leafed tea to go with our locally baked cakes. The Centre organises an annual Jane Austen Festival as well as walking tours of the city with an Austen theme. Costumed Guides will take you through the exhibition and be on hand to satisfy your quest for knowledge of all things Austen. You will get to taste some period-recipe food, dress up in Regency costume, and have your photo take with the world famous Jane Austen waxwork.

“If you're an Austen fan, you'll love it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

Our tour consisted of a talk from a guide which went into Jane Austen's life in very interesting detail. We then wandered through various exhibits at our leisure. At the end you could dress up in period costume or even just try on a bonnet. Good fun. You have to have a cream tea upstairs; the scones are really excellent. If you buy your tickets at the tourist information centre in Bath (near the Abbey), you get a 2-for-1 on the cream tea. It's a bit pricey otherwise.

“Delicious tea with great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

If you want a well presented and delicious afternoon tea in the smouldering surroundings of Mr Darcy then this is the place for you. There is a very good choice of different teas and sweet and savoury food to be enjoyed under the dark good looks of Mr D.

“Good and Bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

You have to wait for a talk on Jane Austen, then you walk around the house. I felt that the guides were a little embarrassed at their job and also a lot of information is simply repeated as you view the house. This tour is crying out for an overhaul.

“Jane Austen Disappointment!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

As a fan of Jane Austen, I dragged my husband to the Jane Austen Centre on our recent trip to Bath. How embarrassing! It is a blatant attempt to make money out of her fan base. I have seen more information about Jane on tv. We paid £48 for a champagne tea which included a "crab sandwich" which was an ocean stick! Seriously, don't waste your money! Take the free walking tour which was much more informative. Very disappointing.

“a peak into Jane Austens Bath”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

I had a good time at Jane Austen Centre in Bath. The Centre is small and did not have much authentic stuff from Jane Austen, but the staff was excellent and had a very interesting and enjoyable talk to begin with. The tearoom upstairs were great and I really enjoyed the shop!
...and you know...
I love Darcy!
