Description: Roughly translated from Sardinian, Aio' means come and join us, it's an appropriate title for one of Bath's most welcoming restaurants. Currently the only restaurant in the South West specialising in Sardinian cuisine, Aio', on George Street is close to the Assembly Rooms and The Circus, is a unique dining proposition, providing Bath's gastronomes with an opportunity to step outside of the Italian comfort zone. A modern interior inspired by the warm tones and natural materials of a traditional trattoria leads through to a suntrap courtyard just made for enjoying Aio's summery cuisine.

“Good Sardinian food”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

Bath has all the usual restaurant chains so we were keen to try the independents. Good value, especially the wine list-an excellent Cannonau at £26. Pretty good food-we had seafood fregola and Saddle of Lamb. Friendly, efficient service. Clearly above the usual Italian Chains -Jamies, Strada etc

“Avoid the lasagna”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

A busy evening in Bath with no reservation brought us to this restaurant. Filled with a lot of guests we took this as a recommendation for a good experience - we were even give a table. The service was reasonable although one of the drinks was forgotten and arrived much later. 3 out of 6 chose lasagna - normally a really safe bet from any menu. These were disasters!! It seemed that all the pasta had been cooked together with no space in between for anything - it was like a block. The waiter asked our opinion of the food and was told this. The solution was to bring more tomato sauce - a really watery version of the sort. The fish platter was in the same category - dry sword fish, one prawn and a couple of mussels. It was accompanied with some green horrible stuff in oil - maybe a Sardinian speciality? What save the restaurant from really an awful review is 2 portions of pasta pearls with seafood sauce, which both tasted nice. But, from all the nice restaurants we've visited in Bath this was not an experience we'll choose to have once again. We'll go somewhere else.

“Delightful - seafood, Sardinian”
Reviewed April 11, 2014

I had a special of monkfish linguine - pasta slightly overdone, which is a surprise in an Italian restaurant! But that is is all that I could fault. My wife had a sort of crab cake, which was rather pedestrian, but also had an excellent fregola (Sardinian pasta like couscous). It was mid-week, and rather empty at the time (cold and wet). However, the service was excellent, and there was a good choice of fresh seafood on the specials board, which is what I always look for.

“Good Chioce”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

We booked along weekend in Bath and asked a few locals where to eat and this restaurant was mentioned by a few so we gave it a go. It was a quite night but we had booked in advance and were greeted by the bar man /Cocktail maker on arriving whom was polite not to pushy being quite we sat where we wanted not jammed in a corner or close to other guests you have to apologize every time you move. Ordering was a pleasant experience and we asked the barman about the menu which he was very knowledgeable. To which we ordered the calamari which was a joy not rubbery or to chewy but grilled to perfection. Then we discussed the mains my wife had the fish sea bass which was filleted at the table and I opted for a traditional dish. All was served hot and wine was chosen which complemented the meals. After the meal a few home made cocktails and a desert went down a treat and we enjoyed the evening even the owner had time for a chat and we found the whole experience a pleasant one. Okay it was a quiet night and some may say it might be a bit pricey-but you have to enjoy yourself some times and it is not expensive as another Italian restaurant in Bath. The food Sardinian influence as well as Italian . We would go back when we visit Bath again and hope we have the same service as our last visit.
