Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Following the multi-million-pound redevelopment during the Summer of 2016, Bath Racecourse has become one of the best small racecourses in the UK. Boasting stunning views across the Somerset countryside, Bath Racecourse offers a thrilling day out as well as exceptional hospitality and fine dining. There’s something for everyone with racing hosted throughout the summer from music evenings, Ladies Day and Family Fun Racedays. For something a bit different, The Roof Garden provides a striking setting to enjoy a glass of champagne and if you’re with the family, under 18s are free*.

Im currently doing all the racecourses in Britain and while I never try to put a racecourse down, this place needs to change to survive.
The racecourse is 4 miles out of the centre,it's a £12 taxi ride each way (a lot of out of town racecourses put on free or subsidised travel) somebody said they do buses on certain racedays but leave 2 hours before racing starts.

When we got there we were hit with a £17 charge each to get in, this was a very low key Tuesday night meeting, far too expensive, this doesn't attract people to come racing.

The grandstand was shut, the only bar open, the few hundred hardy souls crammed into it paying £4 a pint.

We enquired about the restaurant when we got there only to be told it would cost us £130.00 for a carvery.

Yes £130.00 for a carvery.....

If bath racecourse doesn't change for the better it will be next on the list to close.

I am sorry to hear that you experience of the racecourse didn't live up to your expectations, and you concerns have been passed on to the relevant department heads.

We do operate a bus service for all of our racedays which goes from the city centre around the time of gates opening.

As a result of the closure to our Grandstand additional facilities have been put in place on course giving those with the standard entry tickets acess to all areas of the course.

Our restaurants are £65 but this does include a three course meal, a raceday programme, admission ticket and a reserved table for the duration of the meeting. We do offer a range of food offerings to try and suit all budgets.

We're always looking at improving the services we offer and value our customers feedback. Please do get in touch via info@bath-racecourse.co.uk should you have any further concerns!

We enjoyed our visit to Bath Racecourse during a beautiful evening meet and had the pleasure of eating in Silks Restaurant where we were very quickly accommodated even though we had not booked and arrived just before the first race. The staff and food in the restaurant were excellent. The only thing I would say is that the viewing facilities left a bit to be desired and we found the absence of large screens outside where you could view the entire race to be a bit of a let down.

Went to Bath Racecourse on a coach trip. Arrived in the wet and windy weather to the sight of the main stand boarded up and a sign saying that it will not be available throughout the 2013 season.

I was told by a member of staff that it had been condemned by the council. However this was not advertised on the website so a lot of people had to stand out in the open.

They should not be allowed to get away with not advertising the closure of the stand as many people like myself will turn up under the assumption they will have shelter.

Many thanks for your recent review, press releases were issued to local and regional media as well as the Racing Post as well as posts on the racecourse's social media sites. We have since updated our website and information about the closed Grandstand and a link now features on our homepage of our website.

Luxury marquees including a full selection of catering outlets have been erected for the remainder of the season and proposals for a long term solution are being discussed by the track's owners, the Arena Racing Company, in order to find a solution by the start of the 2014 season.

Steer clear of Bath Racecourse until they have completed the demolition of the Grandstand and replaced it with a Modern up to date stand. I have visited the course in the past however on 31st May I arrived at the course to find the Grandstand closed off. As a result viewing the race was severely restricted apart from large screen which does not give the complete picture as it focuses on the leaders. The closure of the stand meant awful portaloo's were also used to take up the shortfall in toilet facilities with drinks being served in marquees. There appeared a inadequate amount of litter bins and by 9.00pm there was litter strewn throughout the site. The food faired litter better with the "Gourmet Cheese Burger" being more like a cheap budget range burger. A friend also had the end scraps from the hog roast and was very disappointed especially as it did not come cheap. As it was I had 2 winners but compared to the packages you can get at Ascot & Newbury the standard of horse racing here is far inferior yet usually more expensive. Major investment is needed as the other stands too are looking tatty. Bath itself is well worth a visit but it's racecourse badly let's it down. Our party was lucky in that it did not rain, if a capacity crowd had attended I doubt if there would have been adequate shelter.
