Description: The Salamander is great city-centre pub. 'The Sally' serves good food and a fine choice of beers from Bath Ales and beyond, and welcomes a friendly, eclectic audience. It's small, it's snug but it's oh so special! The Salamander is tucked neatly away just off Queen Square in the heart of the Georgian city of Bath. Historically a 'steak and chop house', it now consists of a well-stocked bar on the ground floor and an impressive dining room complete with galley kitchen upstairs. Using the finest produce from local suppliers, 'The Sally' is renowned for its imaginative and varied menu, available both downstairs in the bar and upstairs.

“Great food”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Everything my family ordered was nice. The meat pie was great, the duck was perfect and I really enjoyed the fish, chips and mushy peas.

“Great Beef Shin pie”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Never had beef shin pie, but thought I would give it a try. It was great, large pieces of beef in a flaky crust. My wife had a goat cheese salad she loved. It had Bath Alex on tap which were great. A few blocks from the Roman baths.

“Awesome pub food, simple but done so well!”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

First time to bath, first time overseas at all actually. What magical city, unlike anything i have ever seen, this pub was cosy and friendly, people playing monopoly downstairs while drinking one of many local ales. The food upstairs was a triumph. Being a chef myself i love seeing perfect flavour combinations done simply and with a high standard. Will definately be back!

“decent sunday roast- just very quiet”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

have been going in this pub for years, but haven't eaten here for a while now. I've always liked the place, and the cider and beer are always great, but the last time we had food here it wasn't brilliant.
we popped in the other weekend, hoping there'd be a table free for sunday lunch- it turns out the whole pub was free! can't say I've seen such a quiet place on a sunday for a long time. I assume it being half 12 we were just very early, but it kind of killed the atmosphere of this nice little place a bit. saying that though, our food came out promptly and was good hearty fare. nothing mind blowing but very pleasant nonetheless.
will be back, but maybe on a Saturday or Friday night when a bit livelier.

I'm glad your enjoyed your roast dinners. Sorry they were not mind blowing! (That's what were aiming for!)
Sundays seem to pick up from 1.30...but summer is always a quieter time of year for us.
