“Easy-going atmosphere”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Cool pub with lots of ale on offer and I also noticed that they had a crocodile burger on special, which I wish I had eaten. Would definitely revisit this pub as it had a great atmosphere, lively decor and a laid-back atmosphere.

“Ok for a quick drink in the garden- but avoid the food!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

Went into this pub for a cheap, quick pub lunch... And wished I hadn't to be honest. We sat in the garden to people watch as we were only in Bath for the day. I ordered a chicken and bacon baguette which is served with chips and salad. At only £5 I wasn't expecting gourmet food but I thought it would at least be edible. However, the chips weren't cooked properly, which is a shame as they appeared to be homemade so would have been quite nice. The baguette consisted of a mini slab of chicken breast with a greasy, stringy thick rasher of bacon and a dollop of mayonnaise in the middle. It was not very enticing and not nice at all. The salad was from a bag and was brown and soggy in places. To be fair to the staff I didn't raise the complaint with them as we were pushed for time and needed to leave, so I'm not sure what their response would have been. Generally they had been polite and friendly enough when they ha served us at the bar.

“Nice”

Went for lunch, the burgers weren't amazing but they were enjoyable. You could choose from Waterbuffalo or Wild Boar which was interesting. Good price. Nice atmosphere. Relaxed

“Proper pub, food ok, waiting staff a bit miserable.”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

Popped in for a bite to eat to find Bath supporters watching the rugby - Come on Bath! - We like rugby and we like a proper pub so all good so far.
Menus were unbelievably sticky (ugghhh!) but we ordered a jacket potato and veggie burger. The bar staff were pleasant enough and the food was fairly prompt. Homemade coleslaw was really delicious and the rest was standard pub grub which was fine. But the girl bringing the food out just wasn't really bothered, I asked for ketchup and was told it was ''..over there at the bottom of the stairs..''.it's not really very hard to bring a tub of condiments out with a meal, I've had them in flowerpots, beach buckets allsorts sat on the table. When she collected our plates not a word, no 'How was your meal?/would you like anything else?' Standard pub questions. I was a barmaid, cook and waitress for several years as was my daughter. I always loved it and conversation or a bit of banter with the customers was what made it fun. If you can't be bothered (or perhaps she was just hanging from the night before) then you're probably in the wrong job.
Saying that I'd go back for a beer of an evening and just head toward the more cheery barstaff!
