“Lovely B&B - incredibly helpful”

Stayed over for a night in preparation for an interview in Bath. An assault on the train resulted in me arriving outside of arrival times - Louise called and explained alternative arrangements for accessing my room, which was appreciated.

The room was comfortable and I had a deep and restful sleep.

I had to dash in the morning but the host was very attentive with regards to breakfast. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this B&B.

My daughter and I went to Bath for a shopping and Thermae Spa weekend. Very accommodating B&B. We wanted to arrive early so our hosts arranged for us to pick up our keys from the next door pub. Our room was very clean and quiet and a big thumbs up for having fresh milk with our tea/coffee in our room. Our beds and pillows were very comfortable. The en-suite was on the small size but it had everything we needed, very good breakfasts, which set us up for the day. It was a 15 minute walk into town, all down hill, and we took a taxi back in the evening (approx £7.00). We shopped til we dropped, enjoyed a film at the art cinema and ate fabulous food (Jamie Oliver's, Loch Fyne, Acorn Vegetarian) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Louise and Chris were generous hosts and we would definitely recommend to others.

Had a lovely stay at Devonshire House. Stayed for 2 nights. Full cooked breakfast on the 2 days and the owner was really nice and helped us decide what was worth sightseeing etc. Would 100% stay again! Very warm welcome and very accommodating. Thank you

A warm welcome, a warm room, a super 'Continental breakfast' (but I think they sell themselves short calling it a continental breakfast), my husband and I were very glad that we booked this B&B. Louise is a lovely host and the bottle of Bristol cream in the breakfast room nook was a nice way to close off the evening. The B&B is located a little bit outside of Bath's center, but we enjoyed that we could park our car on the street and not think about it for 2 days. it's an easy walk down the hill to reach all the classic sites and take a taxi back up the hill at night. If we ever go back to Bath, we will definitely stay here again.

Good place to stay: room comfortable, quiet, clean and modern. Breakfast: good buffet-style variety - loved the crumpets and English muffins. Very friendly, professional hosts. Location very good for our purposes, we enjoyed the walk into town, good exercise!

Room Tip: our room was at the back and was very quiet.

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us and the continental breakfast. Now we have had our kitchen extension completed we are returning to offering a cooked breakfast, so any added calories can be burnt off on the walk into town.

Hope to have you stay again.

Kind regards

Louise

This is exactly as others have described - a traditional B&B with really helpful, professional hosts who run the place like a well oiled machine and who offered good advice to the first time visitor. I loved the continental breakfast as I am not a bacon and two eggs person. The place is inauspicious from the outside being, in part, a former shop on a very busy road and I would never have selected it without Trip Advisor, but it provided everything we needed. Having breakfast in the former shop was slightly odd and a little cool. The bedrooms are furnished with traditional antiques, not posh ones, if you know what I mean, but everyday 20th century brown furniture, which make it feel homely and gave it a bit of substance. Don't read boutique hotel into this description, though, it's not that. There was a great selection of reading in the room suitable for a quick browse, a nice touch. The bathroom was simple but spotless. The walk to town is indeed a good stride and it took half an hour to get to the far side of central Bath and 20mins to the near side, but once we had the measure of the distance, it helped us work up an appetite and feel virtuous. We are not unfit people, though, and you would need to drive or get the bus or a taxi if you were not someone happy to stride around a town. I noticed someone said in their review to avoid the front rooms because of noise, well the road is busy, but our room had triple glazing and was fine. Nonetheless, if you are sensitive to noise, I would ask for a room at the back. The price is acceptable given that for anywhere near central Bath you are paying a bit of a premium, but it's not cheap or super value. On balance, though, I think it is worth paying the extra to be within walking distance, because traffics is bad in the town and it is brilliant to be able to park outside the B&B and walk in. Parking on the road outside the B&B was fine for us, by the way, free and very easy. The one taxi we took from the middle of Bath cost £7 and that was also the price to park for about 6 hours. Bath itself was fantastic and we had a lovely few days doing the sights.

From the moment we step in the house, we could feel as we were at our own home. We had a warm welcome from Judith that also kindly explained us all the attractions and amenities of the area. The room was nice and clean as well as the bathroom and the bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, ask for those delicious warm croissant!
The building is in a quite area, at a 20 minutes walk from the town center with a good bus service to and from the bus station.
Me and my fiancee spent the weekend in this B&B also enjoying the convenient SPA package which entitled us of a complementary bottle of wine.
Last detail, with the room you get a card which gives you discounts in a large selection of restaurants and shops around the town.
