“Fantastic B&B, great hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2012

We organised a late check in before we left which was really easy once we arrived. Our room was really nice, clean and had a very comfortable bed. The breakfast spread was fantastic and great value for money, more than what we were expecting. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and gave us great tips on what to see in Bath. We especially enjoyed wandering to town via the view overlooking Bath.

We booked this B&B for one night on the recommendations below and were not disappointed. The hosts are effecient and very friendly. Lovely twin room overlooking the back was nice and quiet. We parked right outside and left the car there all day without restrictions or payment. Great breakfast the complementary continental spread is really delicious & varied.
We ate in the Devonshire Arms in the evening where we had a warm welcome and a lovely meal reasonably priced. Great leather suite for a relax after a busy day in Bath.
Lots of ideas of what to do thoughtfully compiled by the hosts. We took the scenic walk down to the city which had fabulous views and only took about half an hour to the Cathedral. We caught the number 13 bus back which stops just down the road.
A great find if you have a short break in Bath!! Good to go early December when the Christmas market is in full swing.

Room Tip: The room overlooking the back is quiet.

Very warmly welcomed by Louise. Clean and comfortable B&B fairly close to the town centre (20 minute walk). Would highly recommend this to anybody visiting Bath. Continental breakfast included in the room rate which is good value for money. Would recommend the pub next door, the Devonshire Arms. We stayed on a Tuesday evening when the offer in the pub is 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £20.00 and the pub staff were also very friendly.
Louise recommened the free walking tour of Bath. This is carried out by one of the Lord Mayor's staff and is very interesting and informative. Duration is approximately 2 hours and is run twice daily meeting outside the Baths.

We arrived around 22:30 and the host was almost going to bed - we didn't know the check-in is before 7 p.m., so keep this in mind as late arrivals are not very welcome.
The room was perfect: clean and cosy, with all necessary details. The photos on the website are very accurate, so we basically got what we had expected plus a warm reception and a nice continental breakfast - you can choose between Continental and English. A nice place to stay!

Room Tip: It is not noisy, the rooms are cosy and clean.

The Devonshire House B&B is a brilliant example of B&B at its most comfortable, relaxed , close to the city , beautifully presented , & sensitively hosted. With Value for money as a bonus we cannot fault Devonshire House.
We were welcomed by Louise & Chris who gave us all the info we would regarding the room, breakfast, buses into Bath , things to do in Bath etc.
The room & ensuite were brilliant, beautifully presented & made up each morning , the bath room reequipped as required , also each day. the breakfasts were the self service style & with so much choice that we had a different style each morning. We could tell that Chris & Louise go the " extra miile " to ensure their guests concerns are solved whether they be transport in & around Bath & furthur afield.
Devonshire House is on a regular bus route to Bath with the stop just a one minute walk from the house.
With a courtesy sherry each evening & not a complaint that we can think of we recommend Devonshire House to anyone coming to Bath for a visit.

Room Tip: All rooms double glazed so no traffic noise.

I have just returned from another very enjoyable stay at Devonshire House Hotel. The owners, Louise and Chris were away, but I was well looked after by Judith and Gerry. As always, the rooms were clean, the service friendly, and the breakfast was very good. I try to make my reviews helpful and include any drawbacks with the places I stay. I can think of only three, limited parking, distance from the centre of the City, and, being a small Guest House, it does not proved meals other than breakfast. On the first point, as I am not a driver, I am not worried, on the second, the hotel is about a mile from the centre of the city, and the walk from Bath is up a fairly steep hill. However, I did not find this a problem, and the walk took me about 15 minutes. Just remember, I am not a fit young athlete, but a 67 year old with early signs of osteo arthritis in my knees! If, however, you are unable or unwilling to walk, there are a number of buses which stop at or near to the hotel.
On the third point, there is a very good pub next to the hotel, the Devonshire Arms, which, as well as providing a good range of drinks, serve an excellent choice of meals from Tuesdays to Sundays.
I am pleased the vast number of reviews are positive, and these opinions are backed up by the comments in the Visitors' Book, and from discussions I have had with fellow guests.
Finally, I should mention that Louise and Chris, as well as Judith and Gerry are local people who have a good knowledge of the area, and are always pleased to provide help and advice.
I look forward to my next visit.
