“Great Pub Grub!”
Reviewed July 31, 2010

On our recent visit to Bath we found this Pub ro be a very pleasant place to have a pint and to eat. The atmosphere is a bit more modern that the typical English Pub which is refeshing really, and the food is superior. If you like mussels do not miss theirs! My son also raved about their burger and chips.

“A hidden gem”
Reviewed January 18, 2010

We got married in Bath and spent the night before our Wedding at the Queensberry Hotel, on Russell Street. We were recommended Chequers Bar by some local friends as we wanted somewhere cosy to meet other friends for pre-wedding drinks. This place proved to be perfect - we basically ended up taking over the whole place as it's not very big so it felt like we were having a bit of a private party. Some of our group had food which looked great, others just had drinks, but we had a fantastic evening and so many people commented at what a lovely start to the festivites it was. It is tucked a couple of minutes out the way of the main restaurant/bar street, up in a more residential area - but is definitely worth the detour - please do visit!

Tucked out of the way, this is a great little bar and the food is amazing. Highly recommended. Local and seasonal, great presentation and generous portions.

“Great Gastro pub, good real ales, good food and the best Fish and Chips in Bath”
Reviewed October 20, 2008

Came by this Pub by chance and went in for a pint (great real ales). We were so impressed that we decided to book a table for the following evening. Returned for a meal and had Fish and Chips with mushy peas, food was served on a wooden board instead of a plate. Food was fantastic with an ambience to match.
