There's a wonderful seating area here which is in the centre of town and yet sheltered and quiet. The staff are very helpful and attentive (even though we were a scruffy bunch that lunch-time!) and the food's interesting, tasty and not expensive.

We visited Shrewsbury over the weekend and did not book ahead to eat. After walking around this lovely town we stumbled across Cromwells and what a great find. The staff were indeed very welcoming and the place had a cosy, warm and friendly feeling. We sat in the lovely terrace (as we had our dog with us) but we would have opted to sit here anyway. Surrounded by the picturesque rooftops and listening to the nesting birds twittering away was a perfect way to spend your Sunday afternoon. The food was a fantastic surprise, I had the plaice, absolutely delicious and my other half went with the steak - 1st class. He commented on the local ale they serve there and I had a taste myself, excellent. Very reasonably priced too. Great Sunday afternoon:)

Having seen all the "hype" about Cromwells and not having been there for a very long time, we decided to pop in for lunch and see what we thought and give an honest opinion

The small garden terrace at the rear is very pleasant and has a nice continental feel about it, the staff were attentive and cheerful.

The lunch/snack menu did not appear extensive, and would not appeal to everyone, The chicken and bacon sandwich and wrap was ok but nothing special but was very expensive for what it actually was.

Overall it was a nice handy place if you are in the town, food was fine, but I feel it was expensive @ over £20 for what was just 2 snacks and 2 small drinks.

We visit Cromwells whenever we are in Shrewsbury and are never disappointed. We decided to have lunch there and chose the garden area. It has been refurbished since our last visit and I was very impressed by the setting. The service had not changed and was of the same high quality. A wonderful place to eat or to have a glass of wine or beer-great selection. My only tip would be that they provide an alcohol free beer for those driving.
