OK, so where to start & in what detail? - we were a party of 4 early (7.00pm) on a Saturday night (we booked about 4 days prior just in case). We were greeted and seated nice and promptly with a drinks order shortly followed, all great so far. Opted for 2 garlic pizza breads with cheese for 3 of us to share, and 1 x garlic mushrooms. Pizza breads were delicious, but the mushrooms - well absolutely awful! - 5 or 6 vastly overcooked mushrooms with burnt crouton things arrived in a red hot skillet, so continued to cook almost bone dry - in hindsight we should have sent them back (oh and they cost £5.55 - nearly £1.00 per mushroom!!) Mains faired a little better - but still problems here! The mushroom ravioli came swimming in what is described as a creme fraiche sauce, but more resembled creamy dishwater it was so thin!, but overall the dish just about tasted ok, the two marguerita pizzas were fine - but they were the basic pizzas, so couldn't see how they would have been wrong and the Rigatoni with pesto and chicken dish was actually quite delicious - but overall for the cost (which we thought was very expensive given it is a "chain" restaurant - especially the Mushrooms!!) we all felt the portion sizes were too small. Given it is basically one large room with a hard floor and high ceiling it gets very noisy, what with the clinking of plates from the open kitchen, and lack of anything that would help to absorb the sound. In conclusion, there are about a hundred more restaurants/pubs/eateries to have evening dinner in Shrewsbury - so i think it will be a very long time before we might give this place another chance to tempt us to eat here.
