This is a real find tucked away in the heart of historic Shrewsbury. Four Star service with two star prices. An enjoyable base for exploring the good shops and exciting niche shops of this Welsh border town.

A set of historic oak beamed bed rooms ; each with its individual charm and great beds above an enjoyable bar and restaurant. The breakfasts are again top notch and individually cooked and served up by friendly and obliging staff.

Letty hanesyddol mewn canol dref Shewsbury . Croeso a Bwyd bendigedig gyda'r ysbryd cynnes.

Room Tip: Rooms not over looking the street if you are a very light sleeper !

We stayed for two nights in September. Firstly the staff are excellent. We were running late due to traffic jams on the motorway. We phoned ahead and the staff reserved a table and said if it looked like we would miss service they would put something aside for use which I thought was most accommodating. As it turned out we arrived with half an hour to spare and whilst a member of staff took our bags to the room we had some excellent food. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is very convenient for the historic centre of Shrewsbury and the staff were helpful in advising where to visit. Parking was not bad we managed to get a space outside the hotel for the first night and moved the car once the parking restrictions started to the NCP which is only a couple of minutes walk away and once youve paid for a 24 hour ticket you can come and go at will so it is as convenient as parking in a medevil town can be. Over all great accommodation, food and staff. We will revisit.

We stayed in this hotel with friends for a weekend getaway. The hotels location is excellent, it's approx 10 minutes walk from the railway station and in the heart of the town. We stayed in a four poster room and I cannot fault the room and facilities they were excellent! The staff in the wine bar/restaurant are hard working, friendly and nothing is too much trouble! Try a cocktail but be warned they have a kick :) We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and also our breakfast and lunch on our last day, the food was of the highest quality and well worth the money! We will be sure to return to this hotel on our next stay in Shrewsbury!

Cromwell's Hotel has an excellent location, being right in the heart of Shrewsbury. It's a small, quaint establishment, which offers excellent value for money. Room are quite small, but have everything you will need. The power showers are excellent and as good as I've seen anywhere. In booking this hotel, it's important to remember you are above a kitchen/restaurant/bar, and in some rooms (room 6 for example, which would be better used as staff accommodation) the noise is very apparent. I asked to change rooms and was more than happy with room 6 at the front of the property. My only criticism would be the constant banging shut of doors as staff access private areas upstairs, which seems a bit unnecessary. The staff all seemed jolly nice, so I just assume are unaware of how the banging and slamming of doors impacts on guests.

Fantastic little hotel, with a really nice secluded garden at the back if the weather is kind to you! Great spot in shrewsbury. The staff are really really friendly and hard working, we didn't eat at the hotel in the evening but the menu looked really good and it was very popular with locals, they gave residents a 15% discount on food and drink which was a really nice touch I think. The room was lovely and quirky with sloping floors/walls and wooden beams. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Huge pot of tea, help yourself to juice and cereals and a full English breakfast and toast. Will definitely be staying again and would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

This is a really cute place in a great location . The room we had was well fitted out with a proper Four Poster bed and a really great bath room ,however while we were there they had a boiler failure so we were without hot water and heating all weekend.
although we had a reduction on the bill we were a bit disappointed that getting information on the problem was slow and at times misleading .It would have been nice if the manager had bothered to come and explained the situation to his guests .
To sum up i think they need to review their customer services because we were left feeling that we were the problem and not the boiler !!

I am very sorry about the hot water problem you suffered. We have now installed two brand new Worcester Bosch hot water and central heating boilers and have an electric immersion system as back-up. I apologise if our staff did not seem understanding of your concern. They are a great bunch of people and perhaps they were stressed with the issue. If you contact me directly I am sure we can reach a satisfactory conclusion.

Stayed only one night but wished for more. Great welcome and everything that followed matched that start to my stay. Excellent evening meal and breakfast.
The only negative is the parking, common to most town centre inns I guess, and there is a NCP close by which costs around £5.90 for secure overnight parking.
I would certainly stay again should the opportunity present itself.
