An excellent cottage. Had everything you needed. Marie the owner is really lovely. A welcome package consisting of wine, milk and homemade cake was a lovely gesture. Nothing was to much trouble. A really lovely area and central for many places. If you like walking this cottage is ideal to stay at.

“Lovely cottage set in beautiful grounds with fabulous views of the Shropshire hills.”
Reviewed July 28, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

A wonderful place to stay. I'm from Shrewsbury but wanted somewhere to rest and relax and this was just the place. Just shows you don't have to travel far here to reach idyllic views and peace and quiet.
Maria is a wonderful host, friendly and helpful. The site is secure and excellently presented/maintained.
I'd highly recommend this cottage for visiting tourists to the area or Salopians alike.

We've just returned from a very enjoyable week's stay at Wysteria Cottage. It started with a lovely welcome with wine, home made cake and supplies. Maria is the perfect host. Dusty and Hector (4 legged hosts) made us equally welcome and greeted us every time we returned to the cottage!
We will be back next year to revisit the perfect cottage in the perfect location for visiting the various Shropshire haunts.
Thank you, Maria.

“Excellent - 10/10 for customer care.”

We stayed in September 2013 and stayed in both cottages.
If fact we stayed here last year and it is so good we decided to return, we would not hesitate to recommend these cottages.
(Just have to say that I find the comments in the last review unbelievable)
Having stayed in both cottages, we found the beds very comfortable and of high quaility.
In summary
Excellent accommodation , providing a base for touring
Excellent customer care; if fact it is so nice to stay in accommodation where the owner takes a real pride in the comfort of her guests! Maria was most helpful.
I found the welcome pack very good - it is not everywhere that the owner provides a home baked cake and wine on your arrival.
We enjoyed our stay, and hope to return.

“Excellent Little Cottage”
Reviewed September 29, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed for a week and upon arrival were met by Maria our host. The cottage was very clean and very warm. The groceries, wine and home made cake were very much appreciated and we would strongly recommend this cottage to anyone.

“Bring your own toilet roll”

Booking by e-mail easy but owner didn't send directions or key collection details until I contacted her 2 days before we went.

Property clean & fairly new (approx 2 years old by reviews in visitors book). Very close to owners house but in a quiet location. Next door to The Fox, a really excellent pub where visitors are made very welcome.

"Welcome pack" provided included cake & wine but only 3 teabags, 2 dishwasher tablets & half a toilet roll. When I asked if we could have another toilet roll a few days later we were told 'it's only meant to be a starter' so we had to make a special trip to the supermarket. Just what I like to do on holiday! Fair enough if the description makes it clear in advance what is provided, but with cottages of this price we've found basics are supplied these days. Didn't invest in more dishwasher tablets, so benefit of having a dishwasher was wasted on us.

Worst part of the cottage was the uncomfortable mattress. It looked good quality but is in terrible shape if it's as new as the cottage. Surprised to see it described as comfortable by previous reviewers as there is a ridge down the middle and sags down at each side making turning over very difficult! Some heavy people must have slept on it! My husband said it's probably the most uncomfortable he's ever slept on and he's got shoulder pain to prove it, which he didn't have when we went.

Would go back to the area which is lovely for hill walking, visiting historic towns, NT properties etc, but not to these cottages.

Management Response
Oct 1, 2013
Most guests find directions through Google map or SatNav, we replied immediately with directions when you asked us. We are always here to greet our guests. Our cottages are self catering accommodation, but guests will find everything they need for the first day, details of the cottage indicate dishwasher available, all guests come prepared with all items they need including dishwasher tablets and toilet paper.
Welcome pack is a gift. We never had any complaints about the bed.
Sorry we could not satisfy you

“Lovely cottage not far from Shrewsbury”
Reviewed September 2, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We had a lovely stay in this cottage. It's lovely and clean and well presented. Kitchen is well stocked if you want to cook, or there is a good pub serving food near by. Maria was very welcoming (as well as Hector the dog) and provided us with a lovely cake and bottle of wine. We found all the local people very friendly and it was an ideal base to go walking from or explore Shrewsbury and Ludlow. It's a nice quiet location but with amenities close at hand if you need them.
