What a super stay we had at this small, cozy, beautifully done up property. Aileen runs this ship, and I would return here in a twice for those gorgeous kippers she cooks up for breakfast.
Our room was cozy and spacious enough for the four of us....there was a single bed tucked away in a nook, immediately bagged by one of my boys, a Queen size one and another single.
The breakfast room was very tasteful, lovely warm cozy colours and decor. The buffet includes Rich Scottish yogurt, freshly cut fruit, muesli, corn flakes, wheatabix, orange juice and cold milk.
The coffee/tea is served on the table, together with a choice of English breakfast or kippers.
We loved the flavours, the food was really tasty and not heavy at all.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Location is decent.
I would definitely return.

We spent 3 nights here as part of a university reunion. The hotel is in the middle of Shrewsbury close to numerous restaurants, cafes and shops as well as the river. It has some car parking, otherwise the adjacent public car park has to be used.

At the back is a reasonable sized lawn, accessed via the restaurant where we had breakfast - cooked to order. They do not do dinner, but being so close to the many restaurants meant that this was not a disadvantage. The front had a reception, small sitting area and a small bar all arranged along the front of the hotel, albeit we fitted 20 people into the area! The ambience was one of a family business with the staff being both friendly and engaging. There is a night porter although a key is provided for after hours access.

Our room was small but adequate with a reasonable number of power points. Wifi was free and of a reasonable speed.

The main feature though is its proximity to the centre of Shrewsbury. We would stay there again.

Abbots Mead Hotel is an excellent place to stay in Shrewsbury. It is in a very central location and within easy walking distance of all the wonderful attractions the town has to offer. The room was clean and pleasant as was the en suite. Breakfast was lovely and more than ample. Al the staff we met were pleasant and helpful. Most importantly it provides on site parking! Definitely a place to stay in if you are coming to this town.

Room Tip: there are two flights of stairs to some of the rooms so if stairs are a problem request a lower floor.

We spent the weekend at this hotel for a reunion with friends. There were twenty of us and the hotel coped very well indeed. Our room was fairly small but very clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and quick, helpful and efficient service. We were able to use the reception area and garden to catch up with friends before setting off to visit Shrewsbury itself and the restaurants, pubs and cafes nearby. Location is a definite plus for this lovely little hotel.

The Abbots Mead is a very short walk to shops and restaurants, breakfast is fantastic and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. It's also very quite and so you are able to get some well deserved rest. I would recommend this place to stay.
