This is a lovely funky cafe that occupies a corner of the market hall. The random selection of secondhand (I assume) chairs and benches are such a pleasant change from the usual corporate coffee shop decor. The coffee and mostly homemade cakes are always top notch. The service is friendly and polite but usually a bit slow!

Whilst in Shrewsburys, catching up with a friend, we were taken to the Shrewsbury Market Hall. A throughback from the planning of the 1970's. A place you would not expect to find this little gem a of a restaurant - cafe. Great atmosphere and best of all, great food and of course that Red Velvet cake. We will be back !

I popped by this lunchtime and enjoyed a deliciously generous bowl of Asian inspired chicken noodle broth, it was very fresh and tasty. The chicken was beautifully seasoned with 5 spice, the broth was packed with flavour, the veg was fresh and crunchy and the cashew, chilli & spring onion garnishes were spot on. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this great cafe, the staff are friendly, helpful & attentive, I'll look forward to my next visit and am wondering how long before they'll have to branch out - people were queuing at around 2 pm, the place was full. Well done guys.

The Birds Nest name is quite fitting for this cafe and its situation in the market hall. It is lovely to sit and watch the bustle going on, a cosy atmosphere created by a mix of furniture and recycled bits and pieces. I have been using this cafe for sometime, all of the food prepared is wonderful. The only problem is you can't always get a seat, particularly on a saturday which is disappointing!
