“Excellent Btreakfast”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

Called in on Saturday for breakfast - I ordered a large Full English breakfast and my wife had a medium. We were both very impressed - portions were generous and quality very good. Sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, black pudding, tomatoes and toast. Even got a piece of fried bread, which I hadn't tasted for years. I read previous reviews about "spit and sawdust", but we thought this was just a genuine British pub with a friendly welcome and reasonable, good quality food. Would recommend it.

“Bit Of An Embarrassment”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Having been for a meal at The Dun Cow a couple of times before, although some time ago, I thought I would take some work colleagues there for the first time so they could sample some of the different types of steaks.
I booked a table in advance thinking it may be busy but on arrival there was only a handful of people in just as well as there was no record of my table booking.
We were told to sit in the bar area instead of the restaurant room which was very cold, in fact my colleague kept her coat on all the time there.
We were given two menus to chose from one being the bar menu and the other being the restaurant menu and was shown the specials board which neither listed the special 'World Steaks' as on their website or previously had. Having looked at the menus which were pretty much the same but different prices we ordered our food, it was not until we ordered that we noticed another menu board at the other end of the bar displaying the world steaks, when one of my colleagues tried to order something from that menu he was told that it was not available.
Once our food arrived it was just average, in fact mine was on the cool side maybe the temperature of the bar area reflected on the food!!!! Very disappointed

“shame”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

went to the dun cow after reading the menu on line, we had a lovely meal, but the restaurant was cold, and the place its self is a spit and sawdust shambles, its such a shame because that place could make so much money if they put nice furnshings, painted the place out, had heating in the toilets and had a nice cosy atmosphere, went there along time go and it certainly hasn't changed, thought it would have thats why we went, and they sell so much unusual steak, won't be going again

Attentive service, delicious food and affordable goin again with friends.we enjoyed a drink in the bar with rustic features took in the atmosphere and listened to the ghost story. The restaurant has a spacious lay out so great for privacy.thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
