Just returned home from regular dog walk around haughmond hill. Lovely autumnal walk with
sun coming out as we walked along. Our dog Oskar was kept under control all the way ( on and off his lead ) and trotted around quite happily.
On our way back we spotted a stag and four does quietly grazing. We were able to stand and watch them for about 5 minutes before they strolled off into the woods.
This time last year we were spotting several deer in various locations around the hill nearly every time we walked , but this year we have hardly seen any , so it was good to catch site of them today !

A hidden treasure, of pleasant walks, lovely scenery, wildlife, and and woodland, the only spoilers are the dog owners, who seem to feel its ok to leave their dogs running of the leash, absolutely no control over the animals behaviour. That being said if you are lucky enough not to have a fear of unchecked dogs then this is a great place

The walks at Haughmond Hill are not challenging and there is the wonderful view over Ufington and the Shropshire countryside when you reach the cliff top. The paths are very well cared for. Hope they don't introduce parking charges

We occasionally go to take the dogs, they adopt flick and stick. Simple terms flick yr dog dodos into the bushes with a stick so: children can run around in the bushes getting faeces all over them and picking sticks up which people have used to flick the dodos with. Finally have a nice bacon nutty and tea at the excellent pine tops cafe surrounded by yes you've guessed it poop.
Not forgetting the forestry commission are gonna charge £3 to park.
Dodos city guys...
