I was expecting a much more thorough look at the life and work of Wilfred Owen. Very poor, spend the entry fee on a book of his poetry instead. The prints by the artist Denis May are excellent but other than that you are paying entry to vote in a local arts competition, a silent video about splints and a few boards on a local hospitals history. The free part is however excellent so don’t be fooled in to paying the entree fee as the British library web page has much more information regarding Owen and is free.

We thought that the most interesting bit was the free part which focused on Roman times. We were disappointed to miss the Wilfred Owen exhibition.

Dear Glyn,

Many thanks for your comment. We are pleased you enjoyed the Roman Gallery. Our Wilfred Owen exhibition opened in the Special Exhibition Gallery on Friday 26th October and is running until January 2019. I am sorry, and a little surprised that you missed the exhibition, as it has been open for a few days before the date of your posted comment. However, you could of course have visited on a date before your comment.

We learned so much about the rich heritage of the county here. Displays are easy to read and the First World War exhibition was also well worth seeing.

A very well presented walk through the history of Shrewsbury and Shropshire, with wonderful artefacts from the Pre- Roman, Roman and Medieval periods and up to modern history. It not a large museum which makes it easy to fully enjoy the exhibits.

Best coffee and cake! Very interesting visit, loved the roman mirror, the gorgeous carved bed and learning about the history of Shrewsbury as a town built on the wool trade. Interactive exhibit (hats!!) as very enjoyable..

Having to ask how much the museum and art gallery was rather than advertising exactly how much and what it covers, (various separate areas) is always tricky although was reasonable value. .

Not impressed with Art gallery, seen better for free, but then was just not my taste and I am sure others will enjoy it.

Decided to get a coffee and cake between the gallery and the Roman bit, cake was good, Coffee good, prices reasonable, but staff insisted going in and out of the outside area, even though no one sat out there, and slamming the huge glass doors. Just very bad design and no thought by the staff that it was annoying everyone.

Went to go to the Roman bit but it was closed so missed out on that, didn't realise and weren't told what time it closed. Our fault I guess, more to see in the first part than we thought I guess.

All in all there will be something for everyone, worth a look around.

Although we really went for the Titanic exhibition we were very impressed with the whole museum. Lovely things to keep children occupied on the way round.
