From the telephone booking to the moment we left there was no doubt that we would return. The room was excellent ( the Walnut) fantastic bathroom, great antique bed that was so comfortable with high quality cotton it was difficult to get out off for a fantastic breakfast.
The evening meal was of the highest quality. Fantastic service and knowledge of the menu. On asking at the time of ordering our meal we asked if we would have time for olives etc. we were advised starters in 7 minutes. And it was. Scallops, duck both excellent. Chateaubriand was excellent with roasted roots. The chocolate fondant finished off a fantastic meal.
A good selections of wine which we happily tried.

Hopefully it won't be to long before we return

Room Tip: We stayed in the Walnut. But I am sure all rooms are of the same excellent quality.

My husband and I stayed at Draper's Hall as a birthday treat for both of us. We wanted to stay somewhere with a bit of character rather than a faceless chain hotel and this fitted the bill perfectly.

I booked on line which was very simple to do and then emailed later to book at table in the restaurant, again very simple to do.

On arrival we received a warm welcome and were showed to our room, The Teal Room. First impressions of the room were very good. The room is well furnished and has a very impressive 6 foot bed. The bathroom was also lovely with both a bath and over bath shower and lovely soft towels and bathrobes. On the downside the room was really in need of a deep clean as there was a lot of dust around skirting, on the furniture and cobwebs in the bathroom which I wouldn't really expect to see when paying £145/night. The bedroom window also rattled in the wind which woke me up several times in the night but this may be down to the strong winds this weekend.

In the evening we went down to the cocktail bar for a pre dinner drink which we both enjoyed. The atmosphere in the bar is great and the cocktails are good too. While enjoying our drinks we looked at the dinner menu and then our order was taken before being taken through to the dining room.

The dining room is beautifully furnished and again has a lovely atmosphere. After being seated our food arrived quickly, scallops for my husband and I had Chicken Liver Parfait, both were superb and generous portions. For the main course we both opted for steak, I had fillet and my husband had T-bone. I can say without a doubt that they were probably the best steaks we have ever eaten - absolutely fantastic. We finished the meal with dessert cocktails which again were lovely. The service throughout the meal was also excellent, attentive but not overpowering.

Despite our lovely meal the night before we still had room in the morning for a full English Breakfast. As with the meal the night before the breakfast was excellent with a selection of fresh fruit, fresh fruit juices, toast, cereals and a full English - a great way to start the day before a day of walking and shopping in Shrewsbury.

All in all we had a lovely weekend and would certainly stay here again if we are visiting Shrewsbury.

My husband and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary. I booked online and asked at time of booking if we could have a bottle of champagne in our room for our arrival. Sadly this wasn't provided which was a shame.

We stayed in the Walnut room which was very pretty. There was an odd room off the bathroom though and this had old computers and paint pots stored in it! Also our TV didn't work which was a shame.

The hotel is perfectly located to explore the town and staff were happy to store our bags for us after we checked out as our train wasn't until 4pm- this allowed us to explore the town further without the burden of big bags.

Breakfast was lovely and served in the hall which is beautiful. Overall we had a lovely stay and despite the niggly issues we would definitely return if we stay in Shrewsbury again.

We chose Drapers as the venue for our July 2013 wedding breakfast as we wanted exquisite food in intimate, romantic and historical surroundings.

Nigel and Sharon Huxley and team delivered our dream day.

Everything we had planned was executed to perfection. The canapés and bellini's on arrival, the specially tailored 3 course wedding breakfast and the evening meze were a gastronomical delight. We had quite a few 'foodies' amongst our guests and all raved about it. We had so many comments in the days following that this was the best wedding guests had ever attended. One guest commented that Drapers treated the guests like 'royalty, royalty, royalty' and we could not agree more.

An extra special thanks to Nick, Harriet, Liam and the rest of the front of house team who were incredibly efficient and attentive. They worked so hard all through the day and evening and really cared about ensuring everything was perfect for us. To the kitchen team all we can say is utterly brilliant - you are masters of your craft!

We stayed overnight in the Walnut Room. It really was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful room. Breakfast the following morning (with friends who also stayed overnight) was plentiful and delicious - top quality ingredients executed perfectly.

This venue is perfectly located for wedding ceremonies in and around the Shrewsbury area and we cannot recommend it more highly. Quite simply this is a beautiful building with a romantic atmosphere and a fantastic team delivering amazing food and service.

We would do it all again tomorrow if we could and it would be Drapers every time!

We went here on holiday and stayed for a night. The room was very nice but note there are only a few rooms so its quite exclusive and can be tough to book. The dinning room has a wonderful atmosphere and the food is a good quality at reasonable prices. Only note that there is no on site car parking so you have to park 200 metres down the road and drag your bags up to the room.

Room Tip: Look on the website to book

Drapers Hall was a great place to stay. Right in the centre of Shrewsbury, it was the perfect location for exploring the town. We ate a great tapas lunch in the courtyard/bar which was excellent. Our room (Teal suite) was very nice. The hotel in general is beautifully old and the owner has kept it that way, however the design of the bedroom was very contemporary - very nice.

The newly opened bar was very well stocked and should do well when people get to know about it.

Breakfast was good and the decor of the restaurant is elegant and authentic, All the staff were helpful and friendly. If we return to Shrewsbury, we will stay there again.

We stayed in the Orange Room for one night as we were lucky enough to attend a fantastic wedding at Drapers Hall. The Wedding was fabulous - a perfect setting with beautiful food and exceptional service, particularly Harriet who was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. Drapers has got to be the stand out venue and dining in Shropshire. Over 600 years old its such a treat to stay in such a lovely building. The new bar area was great too - a nice place to relax. The dining room is really special, oak paneling and beautiful silver candelabras, very romantic.
Our room was very comfortable with everything you would expect for a five star boutique hotel. Breakfast is a real treat - beautifully cooked fresh local produce, lovely choice of fresh breads, fruit etc. Perfect choice for anyone celebrating a birthday, anniversary or wanting a special treat. Thank you so much - we will be back!
