We stayed only one night in the Orange room and it was more than lovely. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the meal was divine. My husband had the roast and I the lamb and both were cooked perfectly. The ambiance was magical as the decor is a unique mix of old world and contemporary. The breakfast the following morning was one of the best I have had. The town is darling but we did not have much time to explore. Drapers Hall, thank you for your dedication to wonderful British Inns. We hope to be back again.

Just had 2 nights in the Teal Suite in Drapers Hall. suite was large, with nice lounge, equipped (but a bit tired) kitchen, nice bedroom and bathroom. The hotel is old - something that becomes strikingly apparent when you look at the walls and walk on the floors: nothing is flat or perpendicular - but this definitely adds to the charm of the place. Location couldn't have been better in central Shrewsbury.
Two standout things: firstly, the owners and staff (led by Nigel and his wife) are great. Friendly, professional, helpful. Everything you could want.
Secondly, the restaurant. My wife and I are currently traveling around the midlands and norh wales and of all the places we have been, the restaurant at Drapers wins hands down (see my review of the much more expensive Bodysgallen Hall for a rather different experience!). The breakfast was great, with fresh fruit/berries, breads and pastries and a great cooked breakfast - with quality food cooked to perfection - not greasy at all. And dinner was amazing! I had scallops (with wonderful accompaniments) followed by the sea bass. Both were cooked perfectly with bags of flavour. Wine was also very good and reasonably priced.
Even if you do not want to go to Shrewsbury, it is worth the trip just to stay and eat here! Marvelous!

From the moment we arrived we felt that we were treated as special. The room was very well appointed and the whole atmosphere felt like being in a comfortable, welcoming home. Dinner was to be highly recommended and breakfast was very good as well and service was perfect - available when needed but unobtrusive. The dining room is beautiful - full of character and having a drink before dinner on the comfortable sofas with a good selection of magazines was most relaxing! The location of Drapers Hall couldn't be more convenient for visiting the excellent and varied shops nearby, a parking space was a welcome bonus. If you want to stay in a comfortable, sensibly priced historic hotel with up to date luxurious facilities you need to look no further than Drapers Hall, you will love it!

Drapers was a one night stay in Shrewsbury, and is a lovely place that welcomes you with open arms.
The people who run this place are nice sincere folk who do everything they can to make your stay pleasurable.
We stayed in the Orange Room. The room was small but beautifully decorated with a period carved bed and a kind of Spanish feel.
The bathroom was large with jacuzzi bath a great shower and nice toiletries.
The lounge was cosy with inglenook fireplace roaring fire and had a cosy feel which soothed any aching bones from sightseeing and shopping.
The hotel restaurant was beautiful and tastefully decorated, period in style but still light and airy with a feature bar.
The breakfast was wholesome and cooked to perfection and of a high standard with ample selection at your own table.
If you want history, mod cons and a central place to stay of a high standard consider this place. You won't be disappointed!

One of those rare finds which surprises you in the least expected places, Drapers Hall is simply fabulous. The rooms are luxurious and very well equipped, and the staff so helpful and welcoming.
I would especially recommend the restaurant, food is superb, and worth a 100 mile detour just for supper!

If you are looking to stay somewhere that is steeped in history, with lots of character and comfortable accommodation then Drapers Hall is the place to visit.

Situated right in the middle of Shewsbury, Drapers Hall is within walking distance for those visitors that want to do a spot of shopping whilst in Shewsbury. There are also some lovely walks to be had close by, we enjoyed a lovely walk along the river.

The food is excellant and we were very well looked after by the proprietors and the staff who certianly went the extra mile for thier visitors.

We can highly recommend Drapers Hall.
