“Maize Maze”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

Great fun for all the family! We enjoyed the children's maze and the obstacle course. Have done quite a bit of walking around the park itself in the past, but not really easily done with a pushchair.

“A hidden delight!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

This place is wonderful. A fairly energetic climb takes you round cliff edges, through long caves, over tiny bridges...... and all this was created over 100 years ago!. The views are stunning and you never know what you will find round the corner. Ice creams welcome at the top, and welcome back tea room at the bottom with good range of snacks. Get there early and make a day of it...... a picnic at the top would make the perfect day in dry weather. Great value too and if lived locally, would vist several times a year.

“Maize maze is a-maize-ing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012 via mobile

2 adults (mid 20's) visited the maze within Hawkestone Park. A fantastic way to spend around 2 hours rambling through the huge crops. The weather was kind to us so made it more enjoyable!
The bloke in the hut is very knowledgeable and friendly, I'd defiantly take up his offer of a map for £1. I'd recommend a visit here for people of all ages and had we had more time we would have ventured into the park and used the lovely looking tea rooms.

“Great place for kids and people who are very physically fit!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Visited the follies about 15 years ago and always wanted to come back. It was every bit as good as I remember it to be. It is a 3-4 hour walk and once you have committed there is no turning back without some degree of pain involved! That said there were at least 3 elderly couples that took the same route as we did and despite my fear for them they all made it safely back as did we. It is a beautiful place to go and anybody with children 4 or over should go at least once, the children will never forget the magic of the place. It is not suitable in any way for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Towards the end there is a shortcut back to the great valley marked as 'steep'... it was like running in a zig zag down a steep mountain without any hand rails! Shortcut is not equivalent to 'easy way'. Very enjoyable but plan a couple of days to recover after you visit! And don't forget to bring drinks as two hours in there is only an ice cream and drink stall at tourist prices. There are emergency phone points along the way but if you have a weak heart then you may as well hang up your hat as I do not think emergency services would be able to access you are rescue you with any degree of ease or in good time.

“Special park with surprises”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012

Hawkstone Park Follies provides a fascinating and adventurous day out with wonderful views and surprises around each corner. The monument is worth the effort of climbing as you get an amazing 360 degree view of the countryside for miles. The rock formations and the caves provide quite a unique experience. Plenty of places to sit and have a picnic and it is worth allowing plenty of time as there is so much to see.
