“Poor value for money, feeling ripped off”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

We recently stayed at this hotel whilst the location is on the edge of town centre it was very noisey. The bar below our room didnt close till 2am, ok you would expect that but all the drunks walking past shouting and sreaming didnt help. Also woken up at 6am by street cleaners. Room was very small with low bed, no one to prepare breakfast as restaurant area in darkness as we left just after 9am. Overall very disapointed and poor value for money (price may been inflated due to flower show) would not stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is located in the heart of Shrewsbury within walking distance of the main sights in the city. Although there is no on-site parking, short- and long-term public parking is available within a few minutes walk. "Reception" (at the bar) was friendly, quick and efficient and the bedrooms are modern, well-appointed and comfortable. These are located over a modern bar-restaurant with a good choice of drinks and meals. The staff were pleasant and helpful and, without asking, they posted on to us a pair of reading glasses which we inadvertently left in the room. We visited out of season and the room rate offered good value

The only real negative point was the bedroom curtains which were inadequate to keep out the light from two close street lamps. It seems the management are aware of this and new ones are planned in the next few months.

Avoid room 5. It has the generator outside the window - which is on until late and starts up early - and the room is `cosy` for a couple. the bathroom was large but wasn't heated during our stay in November.
However, while mid-week, there was no noise from the outside street and the evening meal was very good and economical. The staff were very pleasant & friendly even though they had had to sort out their mistake with the booking.
We would try it again but not in room 5.

Room Tip: Avoid room 5 because of generator outside window. How much space is there around the bed to get to t...

We stayed in the twin room (no 3). The room was comfortable with modern furnishing and a great sized bathroom and shower. Plenty of teabags, milk, coffee, sugar etc. Friendly staff and great location. It was quite noisy late at night and we thought breakfast would be included in price (£70). Would definitely stay here again.

my husband and i enjoyed staying in this hotel as firstly, the staff are very helpful and friendly, secondly, the private and public areas are pleasantly decorated and thirdly, it is well-positioned in the town centre . Our one criticism is that the family room has only sufficient space for two people to be comfortable (and that is once the two single beds are removed!!!) On the other hand the tastefully fitted-out shower room is enormous! One assumes this is because the room is in the roof and use of available space is challenging.

Surprisingly cozy. Our room was a bit small, but with big toilet and shower room (nearly as big as the room itself). The shower cubicle was big as well, and the shower very efficient. The room and toilet were clean and newly refurbished.

The twin beds were quite small, but very comfortable, so we did still manage to sleep very well.

Room Tip: Not a bed and breakfast but you can buy breakfast and all other meals from the restaurant. Be prepa...

What a great place to stay. Rooms are great value for money. Modern clean well decorated and perfectly adequate. Staff are amazing so attentive more than accommodating and really fun people. Excellent central location. Never ate there but food looked great. Compared with other places in the area for the same rate Morgans wins hands down.
