“comfortable rooms good food”
Reviewed December 22, 2010

Make sure you either have a Sat Nav or a good human navigator as it is a little difficult to find.Plenty of car parking space
Receptionist efficient and pleasant.
Rooms well appointed , good size , good central heating, nice shower ( no bath ) , nice toiletries, TV , plenty of hangers . Nice big bed , I slept well , partner found bed a bit hard.
Comfortable lounge .
Dining room spacious so not crammed up with everyone. Food enjoyable, local , well cooked and presented . Service efficient and polite but lacking a certain charm.
Breakfast good selection and cooked to order.
On the expensive side, a la carte dinner with a bottle of wine ,bed and breakfast came to nearly £250

Superb in every way. We had a VERY good room rate through booking.com. We were also upgraded as the hotel wasn't full. Our room was amazing with views over Ludlow. Every comfort was provided. The breakfast was outstanding. We will be returning when we can get a good deal again. This is a simply delightful place.

We stayed one night here for my husband's birthday, we enjoy fine dining so hoped for a good experience, and were not disappointed. The reception and sitting rooms were a little chilly, but it was minus 7 outside! But the welcoming staff and afternoon tea made up for this. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable, with a good bathroom and Moulton Brown toiletries, but could probably do with a shaver socket. There were good tea making facilities with fresh milk and home made biscuits available on request, nice touch.
Dinner that evening was outstanding, with one mouthwatering treat after another. Such artistry and creativity in every perfectly finished dish, from the canapes to the cheese plate (which we couldn't resist despite having had dessert!) We were also allowed to order a personal favourite wine, which was ordered for us, the hotel charges corkage, but worth it for a special occasion. Breakfast was equally fantastic, the menu was wide and included amazing porridge. Perfect croissants and pastries were bought to the table, and there was a 'create your own muesli' on the breakfast bar.
Please will someone give this amazing chef, David Jaram, an award, and don't let him leave, we'll be back for more!!
If you stay there, be sure to visit the Ludlow Food Centre on the A49 heading North out of Ludlow, for an amazing range of produce.

upon prepairing to go out unable to get any hot water in bath or shower, when contacted reception and explained the situation and was told that everbody had seemed to have used the hot water at the same time. As the hotel was only partially full I found this extrodinary. Decided to stay in and try a bar meal in the room, once it eventually arrived me and my partner found it to be luke warm at best. At the breakfast table, there was a long wait for a very minimal breakfast, Constantly asking for beverages. To top it all off upon paying the ball, drinks at the bar were charged to my account although we never actually used the bar itself.

The service we received was excellent from the person who made our booking to restaurant staff. Everybody was efficient and friendly. Our room was tastefully decorated with a huge bed which made for an excellent night's sleep. We felt the room was too warm, but we turned the radiator down and it was fine. Bathroom was lovely too, with nice deep bath and seperate shower, soft towels, bathrobes and slippers.
The dinner we had was absolutely splendid, cant speak highly enough of the chef. Breakfast the following morning was delicious too.
Will definitely be returning!

went for afternoon tea as we had been told of a spread in a magazine, it was not very welcoming and cold. Afternoon tea was very expensivejust a few cakes which looked as if they were from iceland, one mouthful each and fruit cake had been warmed up and hard. ordered a welsh rarebit also when arrived was cold (maitress said it was bought in and warmed up) they then made a cheese on toast with tomato on top approx ten minutes later. I emailed when arrived homne to be told they had given us an extra coffee free and should have said so when we were there< we didnt want to cause a fuss. Will never return.
