My wife and I have been taking afternoon tea/morning coffee at this riverside cafe since it opened.
Our favourite time to go is late afternoon in winter. Its usually quiet and provides a space to
step off the treadmill for half an hour.
The level of service and food is consistently outstanding.
I think it is a unique experience.Great setting in a beautiful town.

Ashamed to say that this was my first visit to The Green Cafe. Organic, locally sourced food. My friend had hake in a bouillabaisseb type source. I had linguine with purple sprouting, and a creamy sauce. Green salad and bread to accompany. Absolutely fabulous.
Must book-we only got a a table because of a cancellation. Superb setting on the river.

This was only a quick visit - we were in and out in 25 minutes, which is probably not the best way to enjoy this place. The staff were exceptionally friendly despite clearly being very busy. The quality of the food was good - albeit slightly expensive (£5.50 for a bowl of vegetable soup carries quite a mark up). My beef roll was excellent, with the best piccalilli I have ever had - does it contain opiates of some kind? It was kinda addictive.

We visited here in the half term and were lucky enough to get the last table during a very busy lunch. Although tight on space, this did not detract from a very enjoyable lunch. The Italian sausage gnocchi was superb with bags of flavour and the side salad was extremely fresh and vibrant - which is a rarity in most restaurants and cafes these days. The panna cotta had a perfect wobble and was creamy and delicious on the palate with the fresh raspberries. I only wish more cafes in the UK could deliver on flavour and quality to the Green cafe's standard. Clearly they have a passion for food, many thanks chef!
