Three of us went for afternoon tea to celebrate my husband Colin's 60th birthday and as e deferred treat for his mother's birthday earlier in the year, so it was something of a special occasion.
The setting is lovely in the pretty market town of Ludlow and the tea-shop is really traditional - all exposed beams, open fire and waitresses smartly presented in black with white aprons and hats. And the afternoon teas lived up to expectations - sandwiches with generous fillings on tasty fresh bread, large homemade scones with jam and lashings of clotted cream, a cream cake each (my vanilla slice was to die for!) all washed down with plenty of tea and coffee.
Even for a cold Monday afternoon in February there were enough customers to provide a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were helpful without being overbearing.
All in all a really good experience.
